Green eyes rolled in the dim light. The twins led the small group through the cave made by the large rock formation on the north side of the beach. In attempt to frighten the guests and herself and Haruhi, they told a ghost story.
"Is this supposed to scare me?" Haruhi asked.
"This is kind of lame, you guys."
When they got out of the cave to continue shellfish hunting, Jenni and Haruhi were met with the blade of a harpoon.
While they were surprised, neither of them showed any kind of fear. Haruhi was so unfazed that she made a remark about it.
"Uh, Mori-- you're my senpai, not my sentai."
Jenni connected her palm to her face and shook her head. Haruhi's bland humor was as charming as it was awful. She wasn't sure what the boys were up to, and frankly she didn't care to know. After all, they were always getting into one mess or another.
Giggling at the younger girl, the two went on shellfish hunting happily.

"I'm going to get my board inland before high tide comes," Jenni said. She passed off her bucket to Haruhi, who took it happily and said something about having a great meal that night. Jenni giggled at Haruhi's drooling face at the prospect of fresh sea food.
Jenni hadn't walked even a few yards when the girls on top of the rock called out for Haruhi.
"Be careful up there!"
Jenni looked up at the girls, now quite a distance away, and saw them basking in the rays of the sun. If she had her camera, she would have snapped a picture of the beautiful scene. Instead, Jenni smiled into the orange and yellow rays of the setting sun.
Soon, however, the mood changed.
Two tall, lanky figures walked up to the girls. One girl, who Jenni was sure was named Yumi, smacked away one of the stranger's hands. It all happened so fast that Jenni was still too far away despite her running. the sand was hard to move through, her panic rising in her throat at the sight of the girls being grabbed by the unsightly young men.
Haruhi approached and dumped a bucket of urchins on one of the unwelcome guests.
"Haruhi!" Jenni shouted; her surfboard hit the ground. Her feet pounded through the sand. When she reached the edge of the rock, others were closing in behind her. One of the boys threw Haruhi over the edge.
"I've got her!" Jenni pushed through the boy, his body launching to the ground at her force.
"Jenni!" a deep voice called after her.
Jenni ran to the edge and jumped like it was a diving board. It may of well have been with the way she dove effortlessly into the water below. Waves crashed around her as she went under-- they were cooler then in the dimming light of day.
Once under the ripples, she searched for her brown-haired friend.
Haruhi wasn't far, but she wasn't swimming. She was sinking slowly to the bottom of the shallow sea by the time Jenni caught her by the hand. Jenni threw Haruhi's arm over her shoulder and started to push her way to the surface. Once she broke the surface, she looked to Haruhi in worry.
"Haruhi?" she shouted. She took the girl's face in her hands and smacked her cheeks, "Haruhi, wake up!"
Haruhi groaned and opened her eyes. Jenni smiled in relief and started dragging her to shore. With Haruhi over her shoulders, Jenni toted the small girl to the sand.
