Knock knock

"May we enter?"

"giggle you may"

We entered the giant room with a fancy desk at which my father almost never sat, because he was a more comfortable person than a business one. My brother decided to start the conversation.

"Father-"

But was instantly interrupted.

"'Father'~ Why don't you call me dad? All the other children call their dad that too. I did, for example."

"I'm sorry father"

"Anyway, you may not know why I called you here. Let me start with you, Nefes."

"Yes, father"

"Could you please stop calling me that? It is not like I take a higher position in front of you. Let's start with asking you what I can do for you."

"I would like to..."

"Yes?"

"I really want to prove my worth to father"

"You already have all the worth in the world to me but if you want to proof your strength to me that will make the news no longer bad news"

"Would you like to tell me?"

"I was just about to do that. I want you to go into the mountains and retrieve an item for me. An old relic that has no worth except for collection. Do you think you can get it?"

"Father, I am not as strong as you."

"Try finding someone that is and someone had to put it up there"

"I will try my best."

"I don't care if you try! I want to know if you think that you can get it!"

"I don't know"

"Will you get it for me?"

"Yes"

"I would not go anywhere if I wasn't sure I would accomplish my goal. This makes you way stronger than me."

He made a movement with his hand asking for Nefes to approach him. As soon as he was close enough my father slowly stood up and hugged my brother, observably to his surprise as he widely opened his eyes.

"I love you two more than anything else. And I especially want you to know that."

"T- Thank y- you."

He stepped back and patted the son.

"I will have no time tomorrow to see you. Please return safely and have fun."

He smiled and waited until my brother left the room.

"Now to you, 'Chosen one'. I want you to do something but you lack the requirements."

'Lacking the requirements'? What else would I need for my father to acknowledge me?

"What do I need, father?"

"Ay! Just because you lack one thing you aren't even supposed to have doesn't give you the right to call me that!"

A smile crawled on both our faces.

"Dad yes dad!"

"That's better! I want you to obtain a vast amount of different abilities. Open your ears, because it will be a few months before you see me again at which point you hopefully already collected them."

He continued to name 12 different skills, some of which I've never heard of, some are basic utility skills and 3 of them incredibly difficult to obtain. But there was one thing I realized after looking at the map.

"There is a small detour but one of the locations is the first sage's mountain."

"That is correct. Your brother will guide you along the way so that you aren't so alone"

He knew exactly that I knew exactly that I was supposed to guide my brother.

"What a coincidence that you two have the same location"

"Thank you alot for the opportunity"

I was truly thankful, because I was finally going on an adventure. My goals were not that easy. I wasn't only acting as a guide which he knows is making the task more than bearable.

"I too wish you good luck."

But I am most glad that I did not have to convince my father to let me accompany my brother.
