~Lorna's POV~

"Lorna dear, you have a phone call." The kind elderly voice of Baa-baa Cho, the woman who rescued and adopted me when I was very young, called from the living room.

My white tipped furry fox ears quirked in the direction the voice had come from, sticking upright. Normally they were a little bit droopy, since I was often lost in my own little world. Baa-baa Cho always called me a dreamer, and encouraged me to lose myself in my own little world. I sat upright and grimaced as my back popped, I'd been hunched over my work table for too long. I glanced down at the cute metallic rabbit I'd finished constructing and smiled warmly. It was finally done. I pressed the tip of its nose and it suddenly whirred to life. It's eyes glowed gold and it sprung to its feet, standing at attention.

I smiled, "alright Baron Von Bunny, your mission is to help Baa-baa Cho with whatever she needs."

The metallic bunny saluted me before springing off my work table and out the door. I heard Baa-baa Cho let out an exclamation of delight. "Oh my heavens! What is this adorable thing?"

A big grin spread across my face and I hurried out of my small room to see her face. Baa-baa Cho's wrinkled face was alight with childlike wonder as the metallic bunny hopped to her side and saluted her. She turned her pale blue eyes to me as Baron Von Bunny began to take over the laundry she'd been doing.

"I'm going to become one of those lazy old people that do nothing but read the newspaper and yell at children on their lawn if you keep spoiling me with all your inventions, young lady." She chided me softly before ushering me to the kitchen where the possibly only landline phone in a residential building left in existence, resided. "It's someone from the Hero Public Safety Commission. I bet they've finally recognized my girl's the most talented hero support specialist out there." Baa-baa Cho cheered for me quietly.

I felt anxiety well up inside of me. What? Why would they be calling me? I thought no one wanted me. After graduating from a not so well known high school's hero support class, I'd spent the last few years applying at every Hero Agency in existence, but no one wanted me. It was so discouraging and I'd been heavily considering giving up.

Nervously, I inched to the kitchen and picked up the landline. "H-hello?" I cursed myself as my voice shook, I was too nervous. There was no way they'd want someone like me who had zero confidence and even less social skills.

"Am I speaking with Miss Lorna Morioka?" A prim proper no nonsense voice sounded on the other end of the line.

"Speaking!" I squeaked as if I were back in school and it was time for attendance. I groaned inwardly.

There was a long pause. "Right." The disdain in their voice was quite evident and it didn't seem like they were even remotely trying to hide it. "You've applied to our offices on twenty different occasions within the past year."

Was that bad? I was just so worried they'd misplace my resume and I was a tad paranoid the receptionist kept throwing them away because she really didn't seem to like me. "...uh...yeah...but it shows I really want to work there..." I piped up anxiously.

"Right." They sighed. "Which brings me to my reason for calling."

"Are you hiring me as a hero support specialist?! Oh my goodness! I won't let you down! I have so many more support items I've been working on and I know you all said they were a bit too 'cute' so I tried to make them not as cu-."
