Hey, hope you like Conner, and Corin. I felt like I needed to include how the humans saw dragon-shifters and someone besides Amaya. PLEASE COMMENT! I want help making sure my story makes sense and is interesting. I do not care if you vote or not, I just want help making sure my story is good. By the way, Conner is 15, and his B-day was two weeks ago.

I stood at the edge of the cliff, my bow slung over my back, my knives in my belt, around my waist. My throwin knives strapped to my thighs, and my boots, which were meant for gripping things, as well as leaving hardly any tracks. My raven black hair which normaly reached down to my lower back was tied up in a high ponytail. Rafaella and my mom stood next to me, my mom's shoulder length hair also tied back. Rafaella had her golden-blond hair in a french braid down her back, and they both had the same weapons as me. We also had a silver on our heads, which were there for recognition. Every female dragon-shifter had a different one, and every male had a silver bracelet. We all also had leather braces on our forearms to protect our skin from the bow-string. Dragon-shifters that were in dragon form during the hunt were killed, and so we were forced to be in our human form.
Us three were on watch, waiting for boats to show up, the ones that would take some of our people away, maybe even me. No, do not think like that! I scolded myself. I will not be caught.
"Are you ready?" my mom asked.
"Yes."
"As ready as I will be. I just don't know what to expect," Rafaella said, her nerves evident in her voice. I looked out over the horizon for the billionth time, where the Sun was just rising over the beautiful ocean. We just called it the Ocean, because the only maps we had were of our island and the tiny rock outcrops around it. As I continued looking out, I saw three tiny specks, which growing bigger at an alarming rate. They must have been really far away, because even with vision as good as mine they were just specks.
"Mom! they're here!" I pointed to them, and Rafaella reached down for the ram's horn that was to be blown when the ships were sighted. Us three were on lookout, watching the boats inch closer. When they reached about five miles away, the horn was blown. It could probably be heard throughout the whole island, and as I looked down, I could see movement, as others scattered to their hiding places. Some of the younger, bolder ones even dared to go near the shore. They were sure to be caught.
We leaped down to the waiting net of foliage below us. It was faster than going down the whole cliff, and it would take forever, so the humans could be here already, and we would be in plain sight. Plain sight. Never a good idea, especially when playing a violent game of hide-and-seek.

Conner's POV
"Cap'n! I see 'em!" Ronin shouted, looking through his telescope. I grabbed at it, looking towards where he pointed. Up on a cliff that rose high above the rest of the island, there were three figures, staring at the ship. The telescope let me see the figures a bit more clearly. They were all female, and one was clearly older than the other two, which could have been friends. They all looked like hard warriors, and I gulped. I was not expecting girls to fight. The only ones I knew of were a few dragon rider girls, and even they were not very fierce. To them, dragon-riding was just a sport.
I took the telescope away from my eye, handing it to the captain. He looked himself and let out a low whistle. "Beauties aren't they. Probably make good money off 'em."
I had not expected them to look so.......human. They had been described as ferocious creatures that could take the shape of a human, and had to be trained to be a nice, gentle, compliant dragon. But from the looks of it, it was hard. All of the dragons I had seen had been polite, listening to their master's every command, like a trained dog. Well, that is what they are going to become, and they probably have to look human enough to fool us. They probably can't even talk though. I bet their voices sound just like a dragon's: grunts, whines, growls, snarls, that kind of thing.
