you watched suna rush over to you in the parking lot, clutching onto one of the straps from his bookbag. "where is harlan?" you shook your head, continuing on ahead, expecting him to follow.
"she's taking a day off," you replied, turning to see suna looking around the campus as he hummed. "where are the twins?"
"they're already in the school."
"so i just waited out here for nothing?" you smiled as you heard suna scoff, listening to his coat make noise as he messed with his damp hair. "it's not fun to wait in the rain, let alone make me wait in it."
"yeah, no shit." he huffed, turning to you. "it's not fun to run in it either."
"quit making it a competition," you advised, nudging the brunette, feeling him nudge you back.
"what if i just wanted to walk into the school with the sweetest person ever?" he asked, smirking at you. the cocky look left as you punched his side, picking up the pace to avoid the boy. "quit running!" he shouted, chasing you across the pathway.
_
"so you two?" atsumu began, staring at you and suna covered in mud in the middle of the hall.
"we slipped," you answered, turning to the brunette with a bitter smile. suna awkwardly laughed, stuffing his hands into his pockets. osamu slowly nodded, looking you and the boy up and down.
"i don't think you can go to class like that." atsumu commented, continuing to finish his yogurt.
"no shit?" you cursed, throwing your hands up.
"you'll probably have to skip," osamu added, leaning against the locker for support. "i don't have any spare clothes and the school might question how true your slipping incident is."
"it's on the cameras." suna smiled, eyeing you.
"i think i'm going to start leaving an extra uniform here," you mumbled, crossing your arms at the boys, frowning as the twins snickered together. "i'm leaving."
_
you sat down at the bottom of the staircase in suna's house, staring at the dog who had been waiting for you to throw his ball back. "why is ikō so persistent?" you yelled up the stairs, turning around to see suna peeking his head out of his bedroom door.
"just throw it, he doesn't always play with people." you smiled at the news, picking the ball up and tossing it into the family room. you watched the small dog run into the room and scoop the ball up, squeaking it a few times before running back and dropping it at your feet. you sighed, petting his head as you grabbed the ball with your other hand, tossing it back into the room. "he'll never stop once you throw it." suna added, walking down the stairs and watching hachikō run after his tail.
"ready?" you stood up, looking at suna furrowing his eyebrows.
"we're going back?"
"you didn't think we were?"
"we've already missed three classes, i don't see the point," he responded, stopping in front of the steps to look at you. "i'll have to go back for practice," he added, loudly exhaling.
"you poor thing." you watched him side-eye you before calling the akita, bending down to shower him in love. you said goodbye to the energetic dog before stepping outside of the house with suna. "you willingly signed up for volleyball, keep that in mind." you nagged, leaning onto the boy before he leaned back onto you.
"i wasn't complaining, atsumu is just exhausting." he excused, straightening out as he stuffed both hands into his jacket. "what do you want to do?"
"let's go ice skating."
"won't someone ask us about school?" you hummed, shrugging.
"none of their business."
_
you skated forward with your arms outwards, trying to take the phone from suna as he recorded you. "wave to the camera." you groaned at the boy, watching him skate backwards with a smile on his face. you saw his face drop as you caught up to him, accidentally running into the boy. you laughed as he fell and proceeded to sit down on the ice, staring up at you.
"do you need help?" he smiled, shrugging. you sighed, holding a hand out to the boy. you felt the boy take it and struggle to get up. he held onto your arm as he balanced himself. "you said you were good at skating."
"good skaters still fall." he scoffed, as you hummed. "you don't believe me?"
"nope." you smiled, handing him his phone back. "i'm good at skating and i've never fallen before."
"you did that one time."
"what one time?" the boy exhaled, shaking his head.
"junior high, we all went ice skating during the break."
you laughed as you recalled what suna was thinking about. "that was harlan."
"was it?"
"yeah dumbass." he raised an eyebrow at you before he brushed himself off and took off. "you aren't going to wait?" you asked, following him around the rink. you laughed as he tried to skate faster to get away. "you're basically running on the ice!"
_
you watched suna look around the restaurant, searching for your waitress to return with your food. you noticed his arm moving and sighed to yourself, smiling as he fidgeted with the phone in his pocket. your face straightened as he turned back to you, finally speaking up. "it's been a while." you hummed in response, lowering your arms down onto the table.
"they're a bit busy," you added, eyeing the food in front of him. "your food will get cold if you don't eat it now." the boy raised his eyebrows, sitting back into the booth.
"it would be rude to start without you."
you laughed at the response, shocked with his reasoning. "you ate without harlan and osamu at the mall." the brunette shrugged before he shifted forward, resting his arms on the table.
"that was different." you sat up, raising your eyebrows at suna.
"how?" as the boy spoke up, your waiter returned with your food, setting it down in front of you with an apology for the wait before attending to other tables. as you continued with lunch, suna's words still lingered in your head.
