Chapter Three
Humans
I feel so happy. And powerful. But then again, I can't celebrate just yet. Having my body and powers back meant that I am capable of many things now. But it also means my presence is open. Because of my strong blood, the intense aura I give off is very strong too. If I unfortunately come across with a fellow devil, the others would start to question everything. From my trial to how I got back my everything.
I sighed. Only then did I realized how much risk I'm taking. Aside from I may be cranky after not being a devil in a long time, I also know very little about the island, and absolutely clueless about the other higher-ranking devils.
I was highly respected back then. Many adored me, but the ones who hate me 'till death will never really be gone. Those devils were the ones who found out about that sin. They were also the ones who ordered my death.
I guess I should be mega careful now. Not only am I returning to a world that disowned me, but I am also going to make my rule clear. Because when I return, I will claim my spot. I will claim what's mine. Until then, all I can do is work really hard to locate the Illumina.

After a little more chitter-chatter with the witch, I went on my way down the mountain. I paid her more to never tell anyone about today. I also bought some things that might help me on my journey. Just when I thought things are going well, I started to smell that horrible odor once again!!! But unlike earlier, I easily identified where its coming from. I held my newly bought sword and turned around as I swung my arm from below. And just in time, I slashed the creature's neck and killed it instantly, making it drop to the ground.
I remained vigilant. I know the owner of the spying bat is near and I can sense a very strong aura of a devil. The more I sharpened my senses when I couldn't recognize the vibe. It feels so foreign that I'm starting to think it's not a devil from Las Islas de Illumina!!
Suddenly, a voice spoke to me, "Welcome back...Karmila..."
My body tensed in the realization. I am dealing with an outsider! I know I didn't physically hear the voice. It communicated directly in my brain. devils of the island are lower devils compared to the other communities of devils. Only a certain few can communicate this way!
"Show yourself." I answered back to the speaker and I said it in my mind to, trying to mind link with whoever this is. My clan was luckily a part or the higher ones, not just in the island but in the entire devil race. Also, by this moment, I can tell that he is very close because the smell is really getting into my system.
Then, he spoke again. "Now is not the time, Karmila. All you must know is that half is with you and half isn't. Be careful, young one. You have a long way to go." And with that, he disappeared along with the smell. But now, I'm confused.
I stayed there for probably a couple more minutes until I've decided to head down the place. I can't fully understand that devil, but I will keep his news in mind. Along the way, I was thinking what it would feel like to face and actual acquaintance. I didn't have to wait long though, cause halfway down when I felt, yet again another vibe. But this time... the aura is familiar. This is someone I know...way too well.
I raised my head and locked eyes with her.
"Hi Mil..." she smirked. She's looking at me in the eye...and I suddenly saw everything happen in my mind. Taking me back to the time of my youth.
In the field, under the blazing sun. Me and my friends decided to go explore. Azazel was holding a stick while running towards the forest. I laughed when Wraya sped up and threw a chunk of earth in Az's face.
"Hey, no fair!! We only agreed on sticks!" Az while removing the dirt in his face, and apparently his cape.
"I want the soil, whatayu gon' do 'bout it?" Wray said cooly., "and since I have won the race, I say we go to the village!"
We looked at each other then we knew what we were going to do. Holding each other's hands, we run in an insane speed to reach the village on the other side of the forest. Normal humans would take maybe a whole day to arrive, but it only took us seconds.
1189 was not new to us. We've been here quite some time before. We just don't go near humans yet cause we still like playing and all. Using our powers to torment them from a distance was way more fun.
It was a typical day. We ate human food. We played human games. We basically acted like humans. It was so fun. Then I thought , why are we born different then? I currently see the good things in humanity. The family. The laughter. Smiles. Then I looked around, I entered human minds. I dove into their deepest thoughts and desires. And I thought, thank all odds I'm not human.
Humans are weak. They depend on each other too much, aside from their bodies are weak. Humans are stupid, they trust each other too much and they think they know a lot. Humans are shallow. They believe what they don't see, question what they do. They create pictures in their minds and call it the truth. Humans are ugly, they feel too much. They hurt too much. And they still give too much. Stupid, indeed. Such frail creatures that lived among us for time immemorial. Thriving still, and forever will.
That's a lesson I carried. Humans are low animals. I didn't believe in them. That was the time I hated the humankind. I see them as trash in the world we, worthy creatures live in. And from that day on... I created my legacy. I built my name. and I was known as one of the most feared devil.
I made people suffer. I made them think ill of their so-called loved ones. I created great threats to the human race, and I made them question their worth. I basically destroyed them from their minds until their bodies gave up on them. And eventually, they questioned them. The warriors of the heavens. The angels. I shook their faith so much. And I was... glorified.
I liked it... a lot. My fellow devils feared me. They looked up to me. I like it very much. I love it!
But if only I knew then what was in stored for me, then maybe I spent my time and effort to reach out to them. Try hard to be good. And beg to be one of them...but that's not an option for a hideous creature like me. There's no forgiveness to my sins in the Illumina... and the book of life, known as the Bible.
