*Addison never left Seattle*
ADDISON POV
As much as I hate to admit it, there's something about Meredith Grey that makes me drawn to her like a fly to a light. Meredith's step mother, Susan Grey was admitted into the ER a few days ago. Meredith was very skittish as her and her father never got on. I told Bailey to put her on my service because I get the whole "shitty parents" thing and honestly, I like her company. I set off to find Meredith, "hey Yang where's Grey?" I ask, "I think she's in the locker room" she says. I nod and walk down the long hospital hallways until I arrive at the intern locker room. "Grey" I say standing in the door frame, she jumps and turns around. I could see the fear in her eyes, "i'm sorry I didn't mean to scare you, we have a consult" I say gently. She nods and follows me to the consult.
After the consult, Bailey comes over to us as we're standing at the nurses station talking about our case. "Montgomery can you spare Grey? I really need an intern for my surgery" she asks me, I look at Meredith as she looks at me. "Okay you can take her but I want her back we have work to do" I say with a smile before walking off in the other direction.
MEREDITH POV
I don't understand why everyone calls Addison Satan, she's not even that bad. She even let me go and do a surgery with Bailey. I scrub in, get gowned and gloved and before we can even start the surgery, the patient starts coding. We tried to get them back but they were just too far gone. Bailey pulls down the curtain that she had up, hiding the patients face. Oh. Susan. Oh my god no what am I going to tell Thatcher. "Grey can you notify the morgue I have to go and speak to yo- Thatcher" she says gently. "It's okay I'll tell him" I say before turning and leaving the OR.
When I got out of surgery, I passed Webber, George, Addison and Derek. I was dreading speaking to Thatcher but at the end of the day, it needs to be done. "I'm so sorry, by the time we got her into surgery, she was just too far gone" I say trying to hold back tears. "No sh-she had the hiccups. She trusted you, you killed her" he shouted. slap. His hand collided with my cheek, I turned and walked away and found the nearest supply closet. I sat on the floor and begged my tears not to fall. The door opens, I look up it's Addison. She closes the door and sits down next to me. She pulls me into her arms and rubs my back, "it's okay beautiful, you're okay" she whispers as I sob into her arms. I finally calm down and sit up properly on her lap, she's smiling at me. "I- uh thank you" I say smiling back at her, I stand up and help her to her feet. We stare into each other's eyes for a minute before she breaks the silence.
"You want to get out of her and go for a drink? Like a date?" she says nervously, I laugh. "Yeah I'd like that" I say smiling at her.
