The day started, and ended quickly. Over and over. And again, and again. Sitting at this tree. Mr. Smit-... Charles sitting next to me for comfort, to talk to me and make sure I'm alright.
We learned a lot from each other. He taught me how to make improved arrows, and the cheapest shops in Valentine. I taught him about making better clothing from pelts or better ways to sell them. He became a good friend to me, well... Only friend.
Yes, I've been with the gang for about 2 weeks now. But it's a bit hard to talk to people here. I contribute to the gang by giving valuables or money, I get food and somewhere to sleep. It's been hard stealing and killing people. I'm not comfortable with it, it's not like me. But I have nothing else to do now. I can't leave the state, but I can't work bounties anymore...
"Y/n?" A large familiar hand gently shakes my shoulder. "Hm..? Oh, I'm sorry. I was thinking." He nods with a low hum, again. Another night sitting at the tree. Levi at my side still. Charles got more comfortable with him and vice versa. They are becoming good friends as well.
"Do you have plans tomorrow?" He asks breaking the silence. "No. Is there something you'd like to do?" I look at him wondering why he's asking. He looks back at me. Dark and mysterious.
"Would you like to go hunting with me? I'm pretty sure I know a good spot for deer." I think about it for a couple seconds. There's no harm in it. "Sure. What time around?" He also thinks for a second or two. "Around this time tomorrow." It's dark. Maybe midnight.
I sigh. "Alright." He chuckles, getting up from sitting beside me and offering a hand. "Well? You should get some rest for tomorrow." I take his hand and he carefully, but almost with no effort pulls me up from sitting. He shakes my hand a bit, let's go and starts walking to his own tent. I follow since his is next to mine. Levi right behind me half asleep.
I lay down, Levi right next to me cuddling up to me for warmth. "Goodnight." I say and close my eyes. Slowly falling into a deep sleep.
In The Morning
I slowly open my eyes to the bright sun shining. People all around the campfire, loud with chatter and random clanks. I gain consciousness, then sit up. Ruffling my hair a bit and looking at the people around the campfire. Mary-Beth sitting the closest to me. She realizes I'm awake.
"Ah! I'm sorry y/n. It's already noon so it's lunch, sorry it's so noisy.!" I nod and show a small smile to her to show it's alright, I got too much sleep anyhow. I stand up and stretch my arms up. Everybody looking at me now. Awkwardly, I walk away.
Do I have something on my face? I go to the barrel of water and look in the mirror. Nothing. Weird.
I wash my face and hair quickly and ruffle them dry with the towel hanging up against the wagon. I should start with chores. I walk away, going to the hay bales. Grabbing two at a time and placing them near or relatively close to the horses all around camp. Then tend to the chicken coop. Grabbing a bag of chicken feed and slowly but surely scattering them around them to eat.
Then placing the bag back. Looking around for anything else to do. Nothing. I go to a nearby table. Near the food wagon.
The man from yesterdays shoot out, bald spot, pot belly and a thick accent walks up to me and sits down. "Muscular one aye?" I look at him with a questioning look. "What?"
"No lady does chores like that, and everybody saw yer' muscles at noon." Oh. A bit embarrassed, I try to escape this. But luckily Charles is to the rescue. "Maybe you're jealous." He walks from behind me, then puts his right hand on the table. "I would be too if I were like... That." The mans face red from rage muttered something then stormed away.
"Thanks you." I slowly place my head on the table. Charles chuckles and sits beside me. "You slept for a while. I guess you really were tired." I nodded and chuckled as well. "I've not even able to sleep lately, but this time I overslept." I raise my head with a smile. My stomach grumbles loudly for even him to hear. "I'm... A bit hungry as well." We both chuckle.
I get up and go to the large cauldron usually holding soup. Only about a bowl left. Lucky.
I grab the ladle and scoop a good amount, grab a spoon then walk back to the table. Placing it down and sitting myself down.
Getting at it quickly, large bites and hardly any breaths. It tastes a bit funny, but I can't complain. It's the only thing the person cooks. Once I'm done, I'm very full. Sickening kind of full, I grab my bowl and spoon and take them to the pile of other dirty dishes. Carefully placing it on top and walking away.
I walk back to my tent and see Levi. Laying on his side dead asleep. His goofy position makes me giggle a bit, his large paw covering his eyes to block out my sun.
(Omg double upload? Nahhh this is just the rare occasion I feel like writing lmfao see y'all in another year)
