"C-Camp nearby! I can show ya', I swear!" The boy stutters out, "Mhm, Levi." He stops. I start walking away to Dutch's tent.
"Mr. Van der Linde." I greet making sure not to startle him. He looks at me and nods his head waiting for me to speak. "I got him to talk, their apparently in a camp nearby. Is that helpful.?" He slowly grins and stands up from his seat, placing the book he was reading on his bed.
"Yes Ms.L/n. Thank you very much, I'll get my boys to go check it out. If you'd like, you could go with them?" He steps closer to me putting his arm around the back of my neck and walking out of his tent. "Maybe a good ole' shootout might clear your mind?" I think for a solid second as we stop walking.
"Sure. Why not?" He smiles even wider. "Good. I'll round them up, you go wait by the horses." I nod and he releases me. I walk to my horse, hop on and wait. Levi waiting patiently beside me. Soon the men round up, I'm still not yet sure of their names... But I'll get used to it. We start trotting out, I'm last. I look down at Levi. "You're staying here boy." He looks up at me. "I don't want you getting hurt."
We ride out swiftly, one of the men having the O'driscoll on the back of his horse. "You better not be lyin' O'driscoll." "I ain't! I promise!" The rest of the ride I tuned out, too busy focusing on my own thoughts. What was I to do now? Crime? Could I possibly move somewhere? No I couldn't. Money and even a better place is too impossible to get.
Soon the men stop, so do I. We hop off, before leaving my horse I grab my bow and arrows. Then a rifle. I start sneaking up the small hill we stopped on behind the men, then listen to their plans.
"How 'bout we try to do this quietly." The raspy voices, black haired man says looking at us all." The O'driscoll stutters out before we get moving. "H-He should be in that cabin right der'." He points to the small cabin. Tents, fires and a shit ton of O'driscolls surround the building.
"I can get them distracted." I speak up, the men look at me. "That's a bit risky." Arthur says, the only one I know. They look at each other, their eyes showing some weird language only they know.
"We ain't gonna make you do that, let's go." Arthur says, and they start moving. Strange...
Shortly after them, I take my spot near the back of the cabin. Going all the way around the trees and to the top of a different small hill. On my knees with my bow drawn. Waiting for a signal.
With a small whistle, I release the arrow. It goes zooming to an O'driscolls head and I keep firing till I'm out. Moving up to the trees with my rifle in hand. One, two go down. I move up more as the crowd thins. Then there's no more. We all slowly move up to the cabin doors, Arthur getting there first and opening the door. A man comes out.
Shoving Arthur to the ground with a gun, then aiming at his head. I quickly aim my rifle at the man's head, but before I shoot the O'driscoll with us shoots the man in the head. I holster my rifle and sigh in relief, close call.
Before I could listen in to their conversation, I zone out once again. Faint arguments just barely heard through my mind.
"Let's get goin'." I whistle for my own horse, they all ride out. My horse slowly trots to me and I hop on. Looking at the large amount of dead bodies, "That didn't help at all." I mutter to myself and ride out following their tracks.
At the Camp
Another long ride and we arrive back at the camp. The sun barely up and Levi practically begging for my attention and affection. As soon as I got back and got off my horse he jumped on me, rubbing his big head on me. It took a bit of force to get him off but he's fine now.
I do what I usually do around camp, go to the tree line and sit against a tree. To think, for closure and for silence.
It didn't take long for Mr. Smith to find me and give a bit of a lecture about making friends, getting along with the gang. "I heard you went out to that cabin up north." I'm pull out of my thoughts to the familiar memories. "Yes. It was a bit gory..." I giggled. I finally notice that he sat beside me staring out into the trees with me.
"Was it fun? Did you get your mind off of things?" I looked at him, sharp eyes looking back, then to the trees to think of an answer. "Well... It was alright? It got anger out of me but ending lives isn't something I do daily." He nods with a low hum. "I'm glad you're doing better. He pats my arm softly then stands up, walking away. I look at Levi laying beside me on the opposite side Mr. Smith sat.
"We'll be ok." I pat his soft head of fluff.
