Chapter Four // Outward Bound - Part 1

Emily's P.O.V

Finally, outward bound. Outward Bound was a camp where you literally are camping, no showers, beds or anything for a whole week. I've been excited for this since Year 6.
Sophie: "Holy shit, I can't believe it, Outward Bound."
Emily: "I know right I'm so excited!"
Sophie: "How am I not going to survive without Netflix!?"
Jack: "Oh don't worry, I'll keep you occupied."
Sophie giggled then they cuddled for a bit, they were both so happy, it was so cute.
Lockie: "So Emily."
Emily: "Yes?"
Lockie: "I dibs being in your tent."
Emily: "Sure. How about we join our two tents so we're all together?"
Jack and Sophie: "Sounds good."

We walked onto the bus full of excited teens, we all looked like hobos preparing for this school camp. I was wearing a black t-shirt with a red flannelette shirt tied around my waist. Lockie was wearing a Nike jumper and tracksuit pants, Sophie wearing a black jacket and tracksuit pants and Jack was wearing a blue and red jacket with sweatpants.

Sophie's P.O.V
I sat next to Jack on the bus and Emily sat next to Lockie, our seats were next to eachother so we were pretty much sitting all together.
Jack: "How am I going to survive one week without wanking."
Sophie: "You'll be fine, haha."
I looked over a Emily and Lockie and they were playing some game were you'd slap eachothers knees, I wanted a relationship like that, but I didn't want to say anything.
I rested my head on Jacks shoulder and he started playing with my hair, without knowing I slowly drifted off to sleep.

The bus went over a rabbit hole and that made me wake up fast. Jack was asleep, I looked over at Emily and Lockie and they were asleep too, cuddling. He had his arm around her holding her tight.
I looked over the back of my seat, everyone else was either sleeping or reading, the bus was completely silent.
I turned around back to Jack and he was staring at me.
Jack: "Come closer."
I shifted my body a little so I was closer to him. He was sitting diagonal against the window and I completely turned around so my back was on his chest, this was comfy.
He put both his arms around my front and held me tight, I researched earlier if a guy hugs you tight it means he is afraid of losing you. He was warm, I felt safe. The feeling of cuddling him was so comforting as I have dreamt of doing so for months. He kissed the top of my head at least 20 times before squeezing me tighter. Being so close to him made me feel even more happier, I didn't think it was possible to be so happy over a guy.

Emily's P.O.V
When I woke up, we were driving through a bright green rainforest, my heart started racing as I knew we were almost there.

I tapped Sophie on the shoulder.

Sophie's P.O.V
I woke up to Emily drastically tapping me on the shoulder, my head was on Jacks chest, I could hear his heartbeat. It was comforting sitting here on a bus in the arms of the boy I am obsessed with, and bonus, hearing his heartbeat.
Emily: "We're almost here."
I moved around in my seat to wake Jack up.
Jack: "Whats going on?"
Sophie: "We're almost here."
He kissed me on my cheek about one hundred times, I couldn't get the smile off my face.
The bus stopped in the middle of nowhere and a instructor walked on.
Beth: "Hello everyone my name is Beth and I will be you lead instructor this week on Outward Bound. Considering there is about fifty people on this first bus, you will be dividing into smaller groups of around fifteen to twenty. If you are in group one I will be your leader. Team One will be this first half of the bus and team two will be the second half. Let me tell you more about Outward Bound. It is a struggle to complete this, no shower, no bed, no kitchen or fridge. You will be relying on yourself and group members to be cooking the food that you will be eating. We will hike about six kilometres today with all our stuff on your backs in our supplied backpacks. Then, tonight we will be camping on the beach. I'll give you all a compass and I will meet you there. Good luck guys. See you soon."
She jumped off the bus and I realised how hard this week will be. I looked over at Emily and Lockie, they were so keen, they've been camping together heaps so they know what to expect, me and Jack on the hand, are not experienced, we'd prefer having a cuddle and movie day than go swimming and surfing together.
We jumped off the bus and Jack and I walked about one hundred metres from the bus to a paddock full of flowers, the scenery was amazing, you could see all the mountains, we were on top of one.
Jack came closer to me, my heart started pumping.
He put his hands through my hair and looked at me in the eyes.
I heard Emily running towards us, then she stopped, she was watching us, she must have realised we were about to kiss.
Kiss, shit, I haven't kissed anyone before, what if I'm a bad kisser.
He leant in and tilted his head and kissed me.
My whole body tingled as he put his right arm on my lower back and his left arm behind my head.
Time stopped as we were kissing.
Lockie came running in from another direction.
Lockie: "Do you know where the- Fuck, Shit, Sorry!"
Then he turned around and sprinted away, I giggled a little.
Jack kissed me one more time and pulled away, he hugged me tight.
Jack whispered in my ear.
Jack: "I love you."
I heard something snap in the distance, it sounded like a branch of a tree.
Emily shouts: "OW MY FUCKING BACK"
Lockie: "You blew our cover!"
Emily: "Well I'm sorry!"
Jack: "Way to ruin a perfect moment guys."
Emily: "I'm sorry, it took a lot of effort to climb that fucking tree to watch you guys kiss."
Sophie: "Why am I not surprised you'd do this Emily. Haha."
I hugged Jack again and walked back to the bus.
Emily to me: "Holy shit, that was possible the cutest thing I've ever seen in my life, in a fucking flower field, with a fucking scenery."
