Chapter 1 // Best Friends

I sat at a desk of four, we were in homeroom. I looked over at my best friend Sophie, it was her first day. I had known her for 11 years and when we were younger we'd say we were sisters, we were so alike, we could be mistaken for them. She'd been pleading her family to let her go to the private school I go too, and finally, she's here. I looked over at Jack, one of my best friends, also ex from Year 8, I could picture Sophie and Jack together. I looked over at Lockie, my fabulous boyfriend.
I hadn't slept for the last week, I had been so excited for this year considering Sophie was coming, she was just as excited as me.

The lunch bell goes, we stand up, carry our books to our locker and I introduce everyone to Sophie. My locker was red and hers was blue, Lockie's was silver and Jack's was yellow, the inside of my locker was just ugly screenshots of all my friends and in the centre was my timetable, Sophie's didn't have anything on it yet, her locker was all neat, that will soon change though when we go to Kmart and print all our photos out. Jack and Lockie knew Sophie already, so it wasn't too awkward for her which was good. We grabbed our lunch and headed over to the oval, it was good now we were a group of four. We sat in a circle were in our usual spot and made flower crowns, Lockie was sitting cross legged and I had my head on his legs, our usual position, it was convenient for me because I got to smell him and he smelt so good like rainbows and babies. Like usual, Lockie placed the flower crown on my head and kissed my forehead. Sophie and Jack sat their awkwardly, they both wanted what me and Lockie had, it was only time before that would go into reality.

We stood up and Lockie gave me a piggy back to the rubbish bin, and then he'd drop me and tickle me, there wasn't a day of school were we wouldn't hang out every recess and lunch, which made me happy, I was obsessed being with him.

The first day went fast, I enjoyed it a lot though. I went back to the locker room where Lockie was waiting by my locker and Jack was standing next to Sophie's, we grabbed our bags and walked to our busses. We stood there, next to the music building for about five minutes, for that time, Lockie was hugging me from behind and we were just telling each other jokes. Our buses came, I said goodbye to Lockie, cuddling him tight, and waved to Jack.

I sat next to Sophie on the bus
Sophie: "Jack is so hot, and holy shit, you and Lockie are relationship goals!"
Emily: "Haha, did you enjoy your first day?"
Sophie: "It's so modern and new and oh my god Jack has braces and dimples like woah"
Emily: "Haha, yes he does, so does Lockie, oh my lord."
Sophie: "Yeah, but Jack has only a dimple on his left cheek which is so cute!"
Emily: "What's your favourite subject?"
Sophie: "The ones Jack is in"
Emily: "So, all of them?"
Sophie: "Yeah."
Emily: "What's your favourite thing about him"
Sophie: "His smile, no his laugh, no, I can't pick one thing, he's perfect"
Emily: "You should see the way he looks at you and smiles."
Sophie: "He what!?"
Emily: "Hehe, you heard me."
Sophie: "Oh my lord, oh my lord"
"TELL HIM TO FUCK ME"
Emily: "Jesus Christ, Sophie" I laughed at the way she said it,
Thankfully, she didn't mean that, it's an inside joke we have, whenever we see a hot guy or anything, that's what we say.
She couldn't get the smile off her face, she was inlove with him, he was inlove with her.
They were both just too scared to show it.
