Left in Silence

I watched it speed by,
your black Cadillac.
I watched it speed out of sight,
off the driveway and out of town.
There was a silence when you left,
one that continues to bother me now.
The way you grabbed your things.
The way you slammed the door.
The way you left without a word.
I thought maybe one day you'd come,
come back home and speak your mind
like you used to.
All there is now, in my empty life,
is hope and belief that you'll return.
I'll I'd like to say,
is that I beg your return.
It has scarred me for life,
scratching and piercing my heart.
I am quite sure that if you don't come soon,
I will leave, too.
You're my other half,
the half that kept me going.
Without half of me, there can't
be a me.
