Jaburo base. One month later

Hans stood to the left side of the Major while he ate his breakfast. Across the table to his right, the Doctor finished giving his morning report.

Vampire forces were growing daily as more soldiers were turned.

No complications to detail.

Everything was going according to plan.

"Vunderbar. And what of the breeding program?"

Hans felt his jaw tense as the Major cut into his ham steak. He dipped it in his egg yolk, then raised the dripping piece of meat to his mouth.

"Ah....yes, about that.."

The Doctor faltered and lifted his hand to his head where he scratched absentmindedly before adjusting his glasses. His hand inched closer to his mouth.

"No signs of success yet Major."

The Major chewed with his usual enthusiasm then swallowed. Without looking up, he cut another piece of ham.

"Why?"

It was a simple question but Hans could smell when the Doctor began to sweat.

As was his habit, Avondale moved his hand to his mouth and began gnawing on his knuckles. He explained that while Hans and Sabine were genetically compatible, there was something missing. Some key element that was needed for successful fertilization. It was the same report he had given every day for the last few weeks and Hans was sick of hearing it. He was tired of the Doctor's interference in his sex life.

"I feel at this point, observations to ensure ideal conditions may become necessary Major. Perhaps even... artificial insemination?"

Hans let his focus slide to the Doctor instead of the spot on the wall he had been staring at. It was a subtle shift, not something the average person would notice. Avondale continued to fidget while Hans watched every twitch of his muscles with a predator's intensity. He calculated how long it would take him to reach the other man and wondered what the Doctor would chew on if he suddenly found himself without a hand. His mouth began to fill with saliva.

"Easy Captain. I am sure the good Doctor did not mean to imply that you are... inadequate."

The Doctor tensed as he realized Hans was staring at him. Sometimes the humans forgot that he wasn't one of them.

"No, of course not!"

He waved his hands in front of his body and at least had the decency to seem apologetic.

"I would never.."

Hans felt his master's eyes on him and pulled his attention away from the Doctor to look down at the Major. His knife and fork hung in mid air, paused over what remained of his food. A nasty smile spread across his face despite the bit of egg that clung to the corner of his lips.

"I doubt the fraulein would agree to such observations, but there are ways to make it happen. Correct, Captain?"

The Major's eyes narrowed behind his glasses.

No, Sabine would never agree to being 'observed' but one command from the Major could force Hans to breed her anyway. He doubted the Major felt sexual desire, but he knew his master would get a sick thrill out of watching him shatter the bond he had carefully created with his mate. The threat hung heavy between them. The Major could order it, but that didn't mean Hans wouldn't fight it.

Before the tension between master and servant reached its boiling point, the Major laughed and turned his attention back to his breakfast.

"We must be patient and put our faith in the Captain's abilities, Doctor. After all, sex is the most basic of animal instincts. Is it not?"
