Life is an ocean. It has ups and downs and if you just keep on moving with the flow of the water you are most likely going to be fine.
At some point in her life this quote had become her guiding principle. Why not though if it had become true, she has always been fine.
Grabbing the straps of her rucksack a little tighter the girl passes the high fence surrounding her school yard and quickly paces past younger and older students, infrequently passing a little smile to people seeming to gaze in her direction.
'Just move with the flow of the water and you will be fine.' She tells herself in her mind over and over again. After a short walk she arrives at her spot on the yard, lazily dropping her back while still walking.
She looks around apprehensively to see if any of her classmates had made their way to school already, but she was alone as always. It's not always good to be dropped off at school at 7.15am already. The malaise that has begun to crawl up her spine as soon as she had entered her high schools property makes her shiver. The girl herself doesn't know what it is that fills her with so much unease.'Elle! Hey, good morning! Great to see you!' She hears someone shouting. She hesitantly takes a perplexed look in the direction the voice came from and spots on of her classmates coming her direction at a rapid pace. Well, actually not just one of her classmates, even if that is what she likes to tell herself. The lively and cheerful boy nearly running to her position in front of the school's entrance, barely hidden between two little trees had caught her in the beginning of the new school year when he was moved to her class already. His captivating gaze from beauteous eyes mesmerized her from the first day on and she was falling for him ever since.
[a/n: I'm so sorry haha]
'Good Morning Mark, it's a pleasure.' She greets her secret crush quietly and shifts a quick glance at his ravishing face, internally cringing at her breathy and croaky voice.
'Soo, what are you up to? Like, what lesson do you have next? Jeez, as cool as I might feel because of it, these split up timetables are going to kill me one time I swear.' The humorous brunette proceeds. Elle just giggles at him and scratches the back of her head.
'As far as I know we both have history right now. I'm sitting in front of you, if you didn't notice already.'
'Ohh really? I was sure I would have biology right now, silly me.' The boy shouts out and slaps his hand over his forehead laughing.
Turning her head sideways to avoid staring at Mark's enthralling features any longer she takes a few steps backwards awkwardly. 'Of course I have noticed you sitting in front of me in history class. Especially after the little incident that happened last week.' He giggles.
Reminded of the last lesson, Elle's face turns a bright red within seconds. She had prayed for everyone to just forget her awkwardly stuttering because of anxiety stuffing her throat and slowly cutting off her breath. She had prayed for everyone to fail to recall the teachers expecting gaze resting on her tearfilled eyes and the students doubtful throat clearing and pen fidgeting. But he remembers and Elle is already able to feel the same kind of panic from last weeks history lesson crawling up her spine and muffling her in a huge cloud of heavy, black raindrops. >He remembers. He remembers. He remembers.< Her mind is repeating the same two words over and over again, trapping her in a void with nothing but herself and her trapidation. >Life is an ocean.< She screams in her mind, trying to drown out the voices telling her that he remembers, > he remembers, he remembers. Life is an ocean. Think of that. Life is an ocean. It has ups and downs and if you just keep on moving with the flow of the water you are most likely going to be fine. He remembers. Life is an ocean. Calm down. You are fine. He remembers. Life is an ocean. Come back to reality. He remembers. Life is he remembers an he remembers ocean he remembers come on. He remembers.
Life is an ocean he remembers and I am drowning in it.< And with that she let's the voices overcome her once again, black water rushing through her entire body in gigantic waves as she slowly starts to back up from the boy staring at her with a confused and worried look on his eyes, cowed by her heavy breathing and empty, nearly dead looking face until she finally turns around and runs. She runs and runs and eventually her lungs start hurting and her feet start trembling but she keeps on running out of the school, out of town, out of the city. Life is an ocean. She has always moved with the flow of the water, but today the waves have become too high.[862 w]
