Synge was exhausted. She was trying her best to multitask. She needed to protect her eggs and hunt at the same time. One day, Synge had found a serpent that was attempting to swallow one of her eggs. She killed it immediately. Now, She curled up around her eggs and slept.

A footstep waked her. Synge cracked open one eye. A human was creeping through her cave. Synge didn't move. She was curious to see what this human's intent was. The human came towards the eggs. It slowly and almost noiselessly put them into a satchel. Then it turned towards Synge. The human drew a knife and walked towards her head. In a moment, Synge realized what this human's mission was.
So in one quick movement, she knocked the human away with her tail. It hit the cavern wall and slid to the ground. Synge thundered toward the human with a dark scowl, then stopped short. She slowly approached it.
Synge brought her nose a few inches away from the human's. She snorted smoke onto the human's face, which was contorted into a shocked/scared expression, and readied to blow a green burst of heat at the human. The human stuttered some incomprehensible words. Synge opened her jaws as flames flickered at the back at her throat.
The human's eyes widened fearfully and yelled, "Wait, no! I don't want your eggs!" Synge coughed back the flames and looked suspiciously at the human. "The king wants your eggs, not me," the human choked out the words quickly. "He threatened to kill me if I didn't get dragon eggs and your cave was the closest dragon lair I knew of so I came here. He ordered me to kill the mother. He wants to...to," the human gulped nervously and continued, "to train your hatchlings as to be a weapon. He..." The human stopped. It seemed unable to continue. Synge growled as she imagined a world conquered by a king who had enslaved dragons and now cruelly ruled the world.
Synge jerked herself back to the present as the human spoke again. "He'll kill me if I don't come back with those," her gestured towards the eggs that were still in the satchel. The human slowly picked up its' knife. "I must take them." Synge's eyes widen, then she roared rearing as the human stabbed at Synge. She opened my mouth and torched the human as thew knife made contact. When the flame sputtered to a stop, the human was burned to a crisp and a metal thorn was imbedded between Synge's scales. She retrieved her eggs from the satchel and checked them for cracks. They didn't have a scratch.
Synge sighed relieved then winced as she turned her attention towards the knife. Synge delicatly grabbed the knife with her claws and pulled the knife out. Blood slowly seeped through the turquoise scales. She licked it away then curled around her eggs once again. Synge couldn't stay here, not anymore. She couldn't continue her usual schedule. That king would send more humans to kill her and capture the eggs. After all, Synge was the perfect victim. She was alone, young, small and a mother. Maybe the king would send knights next time, or maybe go himself. No, Synge couldn't stay here. But where would she go?
