Late for work

At 4 am, Spamton was awake once again. He'd slipped out of Pink's arms and wandered to the kitchen, with heavier steps than usual, to grab something to drink. He'd awoken much more suddenly than usual, to the uncomfortable fold of a wing under himself. It happened that Spamton accidentally entered his neo form while asleep. He couldn't tell why, but assumed it was a dream. He had the faint memory of his heart racing and a glimpse of the wires from not too long ago from his sleep. He decided not to think about it too long, that would be a bad idea. He finished his drink and returned to bed.

Pink was surprised to wake up to Spamton holding onto them this time, as well as in that form. They had found him like this, but they hadn't seen this form in its full since. A textured feathered wing lay over them, which they felt was like a weighted blanket. That's when they heard the faint ringing of an alarm. Their alarm. From their room. They were late for work. Pink tried to get up without waking Spamton up, but he was already on the verge of waking, and rose with them. He noticed that Pink was panicking, rushing to get ready for work. He still didn't want them to leave, so he followed behind them the whole time, not speaking a word.

A knock at the door got their attention. Pink was nearly ready to go, just finishing their last few tasks. Spamton watched Pink open the door from the entrance of the kitchen, just peeking out. It was another Addison. Orange. "You didn't show up for work, I got worried and stopped by-"

Pink sighed and patted the other's head. "I slept through my alarm. Sorry about that."

Orange glanced into their house and saw Spamton for a split second before he ducked away. "You got someone else here?" Knowing Spamton didn't want the others to know he was there, Pink quickly checked that he wasn't in sight. "Nope. Why do you ask?"

That only got a skeptical look from Orange. "I thought I saw someone. Anyways, are you ready? I could walk with you."

"Yeah. I just have one thing to do real quick, you can start walking. I'll be right there." Orange nodded and Pink closed the door, quickly walking to Spamton. They had to look up to see him for once. "Lean down," he did so. Pink hugged his neck and pet his head. "I'll see you after work, be good, like always."

Spamton purred and nuzzled them goodbye, waving as they closed the front door once again.

The other Addisons' noticed that Pink was acting weird that day. They seemed to be in a rush all the time, like they just wanted to go home already. And adding that to how weird they'd be acting the previous week as well, they were certain something was up. And now that Orange saw them acting the weirdest even at their home, no one was doubting it.

"I just don't know, Orange. Who would Pink have at their house? I'm sure we'd know if they had any other friends. I mean, we've known Pinky for a few years, at least!" Yellow was still a little confused. They agreed that Pink had been acting off, but didn't see how that could be a possibility.

"But I saw something move! It was tall too! Taller than Pink, and taller than me. Pretty sure it had wings." Yellow slightly laughed. He couldn't find anything to explain why Pink would have someone like that around that they didn't know about.

Blue groaned. "Why are you even humoring yourself with their matters?"

Orange just blinked at them. "You're kidding, right? Pinky is our friend, if they're acting weird I want to know why, so I can help if something's wrong."

"They won't even come to the grill with us anymore. Why bothe-" Blue was cut off by Yellow. "Then obviously something is wrong with them. But you don't care, do you?"

Blue just stood up, "I'm gonna get back to work." Orange and Yellow sighed. Blue wasn't always like this, but when they were, it was annoying.

They continued talking about it, trying to figure out how to confront Pink. How were they supposed to find out, if Pink won't tell them?

Pink opened the door, and stepped back into their home. The workday was over. They were about to call out to Spamton, when he came running through the kitchen, still in his larger, neo form, and picked up Pink. They laughed, not expecting that sort of greeting. "Well hey there Spammy!" Spamton grinned at Pink calling them by that name. It wasn't that they didn't like the pet names, but Pink used those with almost everyone, he thought. So being called by his own special nickname, it made him happy. Especially with such a large smile on their face as they said it. He purred, before putting them back down.

Pink played with his hair for a moment, before walking to the living room. "I've got some work I have to finish real quick, then I'll make dinner."

Instead of waiting, Spamton launched himself at the couch. Just because Pink still had work to do, he wasn't going to stop being around him. As Pink sat down and worked through a pop-up, Spamton curled around them, his head on their lap. Pink used his head as an armrest, petting him occasionally.

This chapter's a bit messy, but that's cause I wanted to make sure I published more than 700 words at least lmao. I'll have something better ready next time, and I'll post it in a few days :]
