TW: D34TH AND BLOOD

Maxie eventually made it to the cafeteria, shuffling into the lunch line with a tray in hand. Her mind seemed rather hazy, thoughts blurry in her head as she waited for her turn. It wasn't long of a wait before it was time for her to get food. She slid her tray up to the lunch man working there.

"Hello, I don't think I've seen you before. You new?" The man asked as he took her plate. Maxie nodded, looking down at her boots. "And what's your name child?" He looked down at her with a smile as he started to put food on the tray. "I'm Max, sir." She quickly looked up at him, her vision ever so slightly hazy. "That's a lovely name!" The man smiled at her, handing the tray to her.

"Nice to meet you." Maxie smiled at him, firmly holding the tray. She walked off, waving at him, before looking around for her friends. It took her about a minute to find them, sitting together at a table. With as much speed as she could muster, she made her way over to the four boys. Kenny looked up from his food towards her with a smile.

"Maxie! Hey, we saved you a seat!" Kenny gestured to the open space at the lunch table between him and Kyle, prompting her to sit down. She accepted this invitation, and took a seat in the spot they offered. "So, Max." Stan started, looking over at her. "How's the first day coming along?" He smiled as she carefully opened a miniature milk carton with her gloved hands

Maxie took a large swig of her milk, before slamming it down on the table with an exhausted huff. "Oh sheesh man it's been something. Oh oh gosh dude so there was this chick-" "Was she hot." Cartman interrupted. Maxie sorta just glared at him, before returning to her story. "She kinda was. She had this red shirt and blond hair- really reminded me of mean girls."

"Oh, you mean Bebe?" Kyle turned to Maxie, a bit of a puzzled expression upon his face. "Yeah, that's the gal." Kyle grimaced as she was mentioned, as if he was sorry for her. "Dude, she's really messed up. She got Wendy in on her game at one point and God it was brutal." Stan seemed to droop at the mention of Wendy. "Lemme guess, she offered to be your friend?" Kenny entered the conversation.

"Yep! But when I mentioned you guys it all went downhill. Apparently she didn't want me having other friends, specifically you guys. Weird, huh?" Maxie turned to the four boys and chuckled. She thought it was really weird how that had played out, but was trying her best to lighten the story and keep the mood elevated.

Cartman huffed, shoving a spoonful of food into his mouth. "Bebe's a real fucking bitch." The four others nodded in agreement, continuing to eat their lunch. Maxie decided to switch the topic. "So did you see the new episode of Terrance and Phi-" Before she could finish, a blur of lunch slop was flung at Maxie's hand, knocking her spoon right out of it.

"WOAH- What the hell-" Maxie turned to see where it came from, before laying her eyes on Bebe, whose outstretched arm aimed towards them said all she needed to. Her expression was determined and mildly enraged, her glare adding to the tense atmosphere of the situation.

"I told you there'd be hell to pay!" Bebe shouted across the lunchroom, as if declaring war. She brought her hand down to pick up another handful of food ammo, but before she got the chance to so much as wind up, she got hit in the face with a handful of peaches, having it all over her hair.

"Wh- WHO THREW THAT?-" Bebe looked around furiously, wiping the mushy fruit off her fully enraged face. Her eyes fell upon Kenny, who appeared to be the one who threw it. You'd never be able to tell- but he was smiling like a bitch. That excited and gleeful smirk a child gets when they score the winning shot in a game, or when they- in this case- hit a girl in the face with a fruity slop.

Bebe's expression dropped to a grim scowl. At this point, the whole lunchroom had fallen silent. As she barely dodged another handful of food that had been chucked at her, a kid with a lisp stood up. A few people turned to him, as he grabbed someone else's tray and threw it. "FOOD FIGHT!"

In the blink of an eye, the entire cafeteria spun into a low quality tasting war. Girls getting gummed due to gooey gravy, boys being barraged by blasting burgers, and people pursuing to pummel pedestrians with pears of all shapes and sizes. (God I love Alliterations! Watch me do an onimotapia next-)

The battle was intense, with many kids getting caught in the flavorful crossfire. Any teacher who dared to interfere was immediately tangled in the mess of flying food. Maxie and her group had managed to build a shield out of their trays, and were enjoying the food fight as it persisted. Shouts of delight and fear alike illuminated the lunchroom.

Kenny quickly left the comforts of the guarded base to grab some ammo, when suddenly-

SHHLK!

His body lingered in place for a moment, as if the universe was processing what had happened.

The fight stopped as his body swayed in the air silently, standing in the middle of the room. A lunch tray, drenched in blood, slammed to the ground.

A drop of blood hit the floor

And Kenny's head fell right of his neck, his body soon following.

Maxie stared at his body, her breath practically stopped as she felt herself falling backwards in fear and shock. She felt her head begin to spin. She wanted to scream- or sob- or something. But all she could do was stare. Stare and think. Kenny was dead- he really was. And there wasn't a thing she could do about it.

"OH MY GOD, THEY KILLED KENNY!" Stan shouted, tightening his hands into fists. "YOU BASTARDS." Kyle yelled alongside Stan, looking out at the crowd where the tray came from. They weren't able to identify where it was thrown from, before turning around to see Maxie on the floor, perfectly still.

Her head kept spinning, and the world started getting dark. She felt herself begin to shake, as Kyle started shaking her by the arms and frantically yelling for her to stay awake. But she didn't listen- she couldn't. Everything came back at once. The blood, the feeling of dread- everything. Did no one even care? Were they all gonna act like it was okay? She couldn't stand the thought. Maxie's vision eventually faded to black, as any and all sound was quickly drowned out of her hearing.

...

Maxie sat up with a lurch, looking at her surroundings briefly. She was met with the sight of her father sitting on a chair next to her, fast asleep. As well as the dim light of a ceiling lamp and fan above her. She adjusted to the light rather quickly, being able to make out the sight of her new bedroom.

Maxie looked left, over to her nightstand, noticing her phone. She'd initially left it in her jacket, so someone must've taken it out. She used it to check the time.

10:43 PM, Monday, December 4th

While checking the time, she left an audio log for herself to remember the day. Her voice was a bit hoarse, but otherwise she sounded fine. It wasn't anything bad.

She sighed, rolling onto her back and staring up at the glow stars on her ceiling. His death seemed a bit.. odd. She couldn't quite place it, but it just didn't add up. But sadly, she was too tired to start getting existential. So with a heavy yawn, she closed her eyes and became engulfed in a dreamless sleep.
