I awake with a scream and it tingles my throat, but engulfs it pain. My arms are outstretched from my body, but are as steady as pillars, holding up the frame of a bridge. I feel the droplets of sweat forming on my forehead, as I look around into complete blackness. I stay in the position so long, it throbs in my arms. I release it to erase the numbness, and immediately reach for my bedside table and flick the switch on my lamp.

The room is overtaken by the light, and forces all the shadows to hide away. As I'm gazing upward toward the ceiling, I can smell defeat. I pull myself out of my bed, and stumble over my shaggy, rug on my way to the bathroom. I twist the 'COLD' sink knob around till the water gushes out.

I cup my hands, and water pools in my sweaty palms. The gushing liquid is freezing and frightens my hands, numbing them. I splash my face with the water pooling in my hands, and let the droplets roll down my face. I stare into my own eyes for hours it feels like. I don't what's real anymore, I'm confused. I think as my stomach churns, cramping in my gut.

I look down biting my bottom lip, and my hands on either side of the sink supporting my weight. I burst into tears, pushing away from the sink and cradling my face. I tense up as I raise my face to look at my reflection, and see bright red splotches with my usual skin colour.
