"What do you mean you don't like the Christmas holidays?!" Link practically shouted into his phone's microphone.

A woman's sweet laughter followed his outburst, "You don't need to take it so personally," Zelda's voice spoke into his ear, "I just do understand why people get so excited, that's all."

Link sighed and slumped in his chair and glanced around the cafe, his face heating up when he noticed a few people staring at him and snickering, "That's like saying you hate puppies," he mumbled.

"Oh come on," Zelda chided with a laugh, "I never said I hated it...it just feels like every other time of the year."

"Well that's still unacceptable," he told her.

"Ok," she said with a hint of sarcasm, "Well I have to get going. Are we still on for tomorrow night?"

"Yeah," Link replied with little interest, his mind already mulling over a plan, "but expect it to be memorable."

"Oh?" she asked, her tone teasing.

"In fact," he told her, taking a sip from his hot coffee, "expect this to be your most memorable Christmas yet."

"Uh-huh," she replied absentmindedly, her focus clearly going elsewhere, "I'm looking forward to it, love. See you then."

There was a click and the call disconnected. Link sighed and slid his phone onto the table and stared into the black depths of his coffee. Who didn't like Christmas? It seemed like an unreal concept to him. This was the time of year filled with joy, excitement, and all things cozy and warm; so for Zelda to say it was just like every other time of year...

He shook his head. This wouldn't do at all. Clearly, Zelda hadn't experienced any of the joys that Christmas had to offer and Link was determined to change that.

He quickly chugged down the rest of his coffee and firmly slapped the reindeer mug back onto the table. A few people glance at him again as he grabbed his phone but lost interest as he hurried out the door. The cold winter air bit at Link's face the moment he left the cozy cafe, so he huddled deeper into his jacket searching for any extra warmth. He muttered a low curse as his hat did nothing to protect his long ears. With trembling fingers, he swiped open his phone and opened his messages.

I'm coming over...we need to talk.

Only a second after he'd hit the send button, his hands and phone were stowed safely away in his pockets. He briskly walked down the busy sidewalk, the crowd even bigger than usual due to the holidays. Link had to admit Castle Town knew how to celebrate Christmas. Every shop was decorated to the max with lights, holly, and brightly ornamented trees on every corner. Carolers were a common occurrence, their sweet voices working hard to be heard over the city's din and kids running excitedly to larget Malo Mart to meet Santa. The delicate snowfall added to the whole ethereal beauty of it, the large fluffy flakes covered everything in a soft white powder that made it look to be a village of sweets.

Link smiled as he took a moment to take a deep breath. Sure it was cold, but it just added to merrymaking, and it made the hot cocoa much more enjoyable. The thought of hot cocoa then reminded him of where he was going, so he ducked his head and headed down the street. It was only a few block walk until he found himself standing outside a rather dark and gloomy looking store. But, as he had been told, it added to the 'aesthethic' of the shop.
