"Where do you think you're going?"

"Out,"

"I can see that-"

"What? It's Saturday... and I'm done with all the chores, so I'm going out."

"Don't raise your voice on her. Know your place boy."

I didn't respond and just went on my way. It's weekend again, well thankfully. The weekdays were agonizing and I didn't even get to talk with Chloe properly unless you count the gestural HI's and winks she gave me.

I got up real early today just to finish cleaning the house, do the laundry, and all the other chores I need not to mention. The exhaustion I should have felt was replaced by excitement on the thought of talking with Chloe.

So, this must be what people usually refer to as a 'crush' right? Well I thought that I should ask her out. I wanted to; the problem is that I don't know how. I mean, I never had experience with this kind of stuff. I also realized that I might just ruin my friendship with her by doing that. Is this true?

--Just one more turn. I felt a bit lightheaded from my tiredness. Still, I wanted to see her. The school is usually open on Saturdays for the clubs. On my way to the gate, I saw a group of six boys apparently conversing about something. They paused to stare at me as I entered. They didn't look very friendly but I know that wouldn't do anything. Guys usually just ignore me. From watching cartoons, I knew that I look like the type that typically gets bullied, but for some reason I never did. Well, not by the usual male stereotype bully, at least. It's the girls that usually play pranks on me and they always get away with it. Sometimes I'm the one who gets into trouble for their pranks. Of course, for some reason no one believes me when I started to explain for myself.

Anyway, I'm almost on the volleyball court. Chloe plays for the school's women's volleyball. I might have watched one of her games in the past and I knew she was great. Well, it might be just me saying that. I don't know much about volleyball but I found that it was, in fact, fun to watch. Maybe it's just because Chloe's on it.

I went to the bleachers where a few spectators were also seated. I opened a random book I brought with me. I did that as some might get interested on why the freak suddenly got fascinated in watching the women's volleyball. Now, it just looked like that the disgusting freak decided that the volleyball bleachers were a nice place to sit and read some freakish book the freak was interested in. Yeah, I know that my plan stinks. Whatever though.

"Oh, look Chloe." It came from Chloe's best friend, Mel, who decided to inform Chloe of my arrival. It kind of hurt me a bit that Chloe did not acknowledge my presence but it made Mel look totally random in front of the other players. Well, at least I did not get any unnecessary attention too.

As originally planned (it still stinks), I pretended to read the book I carried with me while I watched Chloe in action. As expected, her side had more score than the other, though I wasn't sure if it was her doing or not.

It was time for lunch when they all decided to take a break. I heard that Chloe told the others that she and Mel were going to go someplace else.

It might be my cue to follow her. I did that when no one was looking.

"Hi," I said sheepishly when I caught up to them. Mel just laughed at me.

"What are you doing here?" Chloe snapped at me. Oh, she didn't want to hang out? I must have been annoying to her then.

"Oh, I'll just go." I just wanted to hang out. Well, we did both mention that we're both busy on Saturdays. That means that she only expected to see me on Sundays.

"Don't go yet, silly. Don't you know that Chloe here wished earlier that you'll watch her play? She's waiting for you," Mel snickered.

"I did not!" Chloe crossed her arms and looked away from me and Mel. At this point I just watched as the friends argued like normal friends do. And there I was just watching them in envy.

"Hey don't feel bad kid. My best friend here is-"

"Shut it Mel!" Chloe finally turned to me. I just smiled. "Let's go ditch Mel." She held my wrist and started pulling me away.

"Hey! I'll get you, kid, for stealing my best friend," Mel said though she didn't look really angry about me stealing Chloe. She's the one dragging me, so she's the one who's stealing me after all.

We went, bought take-outs and we headed to the park. Once we were seated, I tried to start a conversation.

"You know, I like Mel. She's really nice." I did not know that I just said something wrong.

"What!? Fine, I get it you're trying to get close to me so that you can get close to Melissa, huh? So, that's it." said Chloe, after just swallowing a mouthful of lunch.

"Huh? I don't – what? Hey, I didn't mean it like that," I just can't get the right words. Why am I even trying, anyway?

"Hmph! Do you think that I just let a little idiot like you get his hands on Mel? Well, for your info, she doesn't like boys your type. She likes boys who like to snog every last girl her could get his hands to," she paused. " Eww, gross, right?"

What is she talking about? I guess I should be thankful that she was grossed out about describing Mel's type of guys that it distracted her. I owe that guy one now, I guess.

"Chloe," I tried to calm her down, something I shouldn't have done as I realized later that she's already calmed down. She remembered that she's somehow annoyed at me.

"Don't touch me!" she slapped my hands away. She's laughing now but I don't know if it was because she's happy or was it something else. "What?" she demanded, as she looks at me with blazed eyes.

"I'm sorry."

"You know, you always apologize even when you didn't really do anything," Was that a compliment? "It's getting annoying." I guess not.

Then there's something I wanted to say. I didn't know why I suddenly had the urge to tell her this now.

"Uh, can I ask you something?" Why does it have to be now? She gave me the look, an eyebrow raised, telling me to continue.

"Can I- should I- could you be my girlfriend?" Icouldn't help but facepalmed after that. It just sounded so random.
