Evelyn's Journey

~chapter one - Evelyn's pov~

(Btw, this is in summer break)

As I'm brushing my teeth, I hear a knock on the door. "Hello? Is this where Evelyn lives?" Someone asks. Oh, dear. Not again. It's probably some other NiCE sWeEt CoUplE, that's going to take one of MY siblings, and leave the rest of us behind. UGH. I walk to the door and muster up my courage to answer.

A lady in a long, flowing gown turns back to me. I look around. Jack, Ensley, Zira, and Fitz are all sleeping. It is 7:00 in the morning, after all.

"Yes, Ma'am," I say, and motion her to follow me out the door. at her to go out the door. Fink always tells us to be kind to everyone and give them "the benefit of the doubt".

"Is there an Evelyn?" She asks, her voice almost waking Zira up.

"Yes, Ma'am. That would be me." I say, and look her straight in the eye. Why does she care?

"Oh, wow. You look just like your mother."

The word "mother" sends me spiraling into doubt. I never had a mother. The only person I had ever thought of as a mother was Fayette. What did she mean?

"Keira?" I hear. Was that Fink?

"Do you know her?" I asked intently, because if Fink knew who this "Keira" was, then maybe she REALLY did know my mother!

Fink turned to me and handed me an envelope. "Your mother wanted me to give you this when you turned 12. She said I would know when you turned 12 because 'Keira' would 'help' me." He turned to the lady. "I'm assuming you're from Serine Skies?"
