"I'm done asking."

She flinched at the sound of her classroom door bursting open as she heard his footsteps grow louder, her heart beating faster with anticipation by each step. The already gloomy air of her room grew more thick now that he was here, maybe it was because of the fear. She played with the sleeves of her sweater, what the fuck was he doing here?

She wasn't hard to spot as he found her sitting against the wall with her face buried in her knees, cowering away in the mist of her gloom. He took a seat on the floor before her before placing a gentle hand over hers.

"Talk to me."

She remained silent even after he demanded her to speak, she didn't want to. She wasn't in the state to do such a thing, she just wanted to be alone, even if it couldn't be forever.

He let out a sigh, right... he couldn't just force her to speak up. He had to coax her into opening up to him, he couldn't be so brash about it.

"You've been acting strange lately. Usually you don't shut the fuck up, you're always offering a helping hand, being friendly but never taking anyone's shit, and now you're the complete opposite. You don't speak unless we go on patrols, you don't bite back on Scarlett's remarks anymore, and now you just disappear whenever you feel like it. Do you realize the amount of suspicion you're building up for yourself right now?"

She dug her nails into her knees, he wouldn't understand. No one would understand since all everyone cared about was survival, and he wasn't any better.

So what if she was stirring up suspicion? They could throw her to the zombies for all she cared now...

He sighed, c'mon Eugene, you need to be patient. He usually could care less about waiting for anyone these days, but with her it was different. He may not have been the softest person for her to rely on, but he still wanted her to rely on him no matter what. Teach him to be more softer for her if she was that desperate, he just wanted to take care of her...

"[Name]..." he touched her arm, trying to reach out to her.

But the closer he got, the farther she went.

She yanked his hand away from her as she tried to crawl away from him, she would crawl under the desks and just never come out again. Someone like her was better off dead, rotting away on the wooden surface until she turned into nothing but the remnants of herself, never fading just like her biggest sin.

Maybe patience was something he just couldn't bring himself to master, not when she was doing this to herself! His blood boiled as his anger rushed to his head, he knew he shouldn't scream at her but he just called her out, he tried to reach out to her yet she kept pushing him away! Yet he couldn't bring himself to scream at her, to smack some sense into her, to hurt her.

He loved her too much to actually let her suffer like this...

He grabbed ahold of her and pulled her to him before she could get under the desk, his mind was tangled with thought after thought to the point he didn't even think of anything else because all he wanted was her. He cupped her face and crashed his lips against hers.

There was a moment of stillness, the world seemed to stop rotating. The only movement there was was their hearts pounding against each other's ribcages. The only thing they both could focus on was the taste of one another's warm, yet chapped lips. The burning sensation from the blood rushing to their cheeks. The feelings for each other suddenly becoming extremely overwhelming...
