·˚ ༘₊· ˚₊· ͟͟͞͞ ➳ DURING THE CAR RIDE, THE ONLY THING YOUR MOM PLAYED WAS GOSPEL. whether it was kirk franklin or mandisa didn't matter. if it was soul music, she would play it. but right now, she was playing one you've heard many, MANY times before. praise him in advance, by marvin sapp.
she wouldn't stop, and it didn't help that the lyrics were already engraved into your brain.
"momma." you tapped her shoulder lightly so she wouldn't be distracted while driving and swerve off the road, "can i change the radio? we've heard this song 3 times already in the past 20 minutes."
your mom was too busy nodding her head to the beat, that she didn't feel you touching her. so you gave her a slightly harder tap, which got her attention.
"you know better than to bother me while i'm driving. what is it?" your mom said as she gripped the steering wheel a little bit harder.
you repeated your question, which you were sure she heard this time. but when she didn't answer you and put her focus on the road once more, you sighed and slouched in your seat.
"don't give me attitude. i never said no."
when you heard that, your eyes lit up. "so can i?"
"go ahead. but don't play none of that rap or whatever music you listen to nowadays."
"but momma," you said while scrolling through your playlist on your phone; you were still deciding on what song to choose, "you like rap music. and r&b. and rock. and indie. and jazz. and contemporary. and—"
"i know what i like!" your mom sighed and grumbled lowly. "it's just, i can't get my groove on while driving."
throwing your arm to the side a little, you chuckled. "momma, no one says 'groove on' anymore."

as you stepped into the airport, and loaded your luggage, you were soon tackled by your two best friends.
"oh, we thought you'd never make it!" charllote exclaimed as she hopped onto your back.
"i didn't." akilah stated, pulling said girl off, "i knew you'd make it. late? sure, but you wouldn't miss it completely."
"haha, thanks for the unfaltering faith, aki..." you laughed sarcastically.
you watched as your mom hugged her two best friends and they laughed, talking about everything and anything that had happened in the prior hours. it was like looking at a mini— well, a maxi version of you. so while waiting for departure, the 6 of you sat down and continued to have conversation.
"i can't wait to see all of the heroes there!"
that was akilah for you. the hero fanatic. her quirk was pretty great, so she knew that going to ua was inevitable. there was no going back.
"speaking of heroes," you said as you pointed towards a crowd of civilians, "it seems like there's one over there."
"c'mon," charllote said pulling both yours and akilah's hands, "let's go check it out!"
"mom, we'll be back!" you yelled.
your mom nodded, telling you to make sure you don't get into trouble and be back before boarding the plane.
the three of you had gotten sucked into the crowd, but were luckily still together. however, it was unfortunate being pushed and pulled in every direction. you were just about to find your way out when charllote loudly gasped.
"what is it?" you asked.
"no way..." she said as she covered her mouth.
akilah was getting impatient of being pushed around that she snapped. "spit it out!"
"it's all might! the no.1 hero of japan, all might!" she exclaimed excitedly.
and just like that, akilah's crappy mood was gone. "no way! i wanna see!"
the girl began to push and shove everyone to the side until she got to the center where the man was located. and she wasn't alone. somehow, akilah was able to drag the two of you to the center along with her. the three of you stood in awe as you watched all might's attention drift towards you.
"AH, IT APPEARS I'VE GOT SOME FANS! WHAT ARE YOUR NAMES?!" all might exclaimed. his voice was extremely loud, but it not like you didn't expect it.
"i'm y/n, and these are my two best friends, akilah and charllote. it's very nice to meet you!"
you mentally face palmed as you couldn't help but feel embarrassed at your overexcited attitude, but what could you do? you were nervous and this is all might you were talking to, the number 1 of japan and your future teacher at ua.
"IT'S NICE TO MEET THE THREE OF YOU." he said as he quickly went around and shook your hands.
somehow, you and your friends were able to hold an actual conversation with the man. you even mentioned that you all planned to attend ua on recommendations, on which he congratulated you for.
"NOT MANY STUDENTS GET RECOMMENDED FOR A SCHOOL LIKE UA, YOU SHOULD BE VERY PROUD OF YOURSELVES." the man said and it put a warm smile on your face.
soon, he realized that he had to be in japan in the next couple hours or else he would miss his classes. flying off at the speed of light, he waved goodbye and awaited your arrival at ua.
"woah." charllote said as she let out the breath she didn't know she was holding. "that was something else."
akilah gushed. "he's even cooler in person."
"yeah," you looked up at the skylight he flew out of, "he really is."
"now boarding the plane for flight 1738."
"oh crap, that's us!" you exclaimed as you ran off into the direction towards your mom.
'momma, please don't chew me out!' you could only hope for her grace.
