Things just don't happen for a reason.

That is what Kenma Kozume says about everything. Sure, Aristotle believed that everything that happened to you today has a purpose because it turns you into the person you are becoming. But, you've hit your knee on countless tables throughout your life. There isn't a deeper "reason" behind it, except that you didn't see that table there. Kenma's choices. Others choices. The neighbor's choices. Happen because of impulse, there is no real reason as to why any living thing does anything.

This was Kenma's motto as he reluctantly walked himself on campus, he just needed to pass this one exam. However, seems as though fate had other plans for him.

Everything happens for a reason

That is what Y/N L/N says about everything. Everything starts with nothing if you want anything to happen. You have to start with the Big Bang and expanding universes, neutrons, ions, atoms, black holes, suns, moons, stars. You have to start at the beginning. To make anything happen for a reason you have to create the entire world. Okay, sure that might be the fact she's an Astrophysics major talking.

But, Y/N believes things happen for a good reason. However. Certainly not this.

Maybe she's just having a bad day. Y/N had already been running late for an interview, she managed to get her dress stained, and now here she is flat on her butt while groaning in pain from the impact. Hearing a huff before her the woman quickly jumps to her feet. "Are you okay? I wasn't watching where I was going! And I knocked into you, I hope you aren't hurt or anything! Here let me-"

Kenma waved his hand gesturing he was fine, cutting off the distraught girl's rambles. "It's fine, it happens." Kenma lifts himself from the ground. He looked up at the girl who had stopped rambling once he started speaking. "I should be asking if you're ok-" His words trailed as he stared at the girl before him.

Y/N stared back at the boy. Feeling the same emotions he was feeling almost, words lost as they stared at each other. She's met this man before, hasn't she? He was so bright, yet so simple.

He looked like he was a star.

She quickly shakes her head, clearing her throat as she grabbed her bag. "I am sorry! But, I'm running late." Y/N put the bag over her shoulder as she got ready to run to catch the next subway. "Ask about me to one of my friends! His name is Suna Rintarou!"

She yelled from the distance as she faded away. Kenma watched as her figure disappeared, that was ... weird. Kenma was sure he's never met her in his life, but somehow she was so familiar.

She was familiar in a sense as if she's a melody that you can easily hum to when heard once again. In scrapbooks, she's the type of person with images sprawled on every page, every corner imprinted with her writing. She's familiar yet unfamiliar, both at the same. Kenma thought about the name the girl had given him, now he knew that name.

He grimaced at the thought. If he had to deal with Suna, was meeting this girl again really worth it? Kenma thought about it as he grabbed his bag, he couldn't be late for this exam. His parents and his teachers would have his head. Slinging the back over his shoulder he walked to his class.

Y/N let out a ridged breathe as she sat outside the door's office of where her interview would take place. After bargaining with the assistant for a while, they gave in and could see if they can fill her in even though she had been running late. The girl fiddles with her fingers clutching her bag tightly, she hoped this would work in her favor.

The assistant promptly walks back into the hall. "Mrs. L/N?" He called out questioning if he had gotten the name right. Y/N turned to the assistant hopeful in her eyes. "They're ready for you."

She held back her smile, quickly grabbing her back and shuffling to the door.

Kenma made his way into his classroom, shuffling his way to the very back to avoid talking to anyone. He began to rummage through his bag, pausing for a moment he pulled out what felt like a tissue packet. Bringing it closer to him, he inspected it.

It wasn't tissue packets.

Kenma felt his eyes widen as he stared at the sanitary pads. Shoving the packet back in the bag he paused, this isn't his bag. There's no way, he began rummaging through it more. "Please take out your student pass with your admission ticket." Kenma's teacher announced which only fell onto Kenma's deaf ears.

Pulling out a clear folder with a resume and a picture that certainly wasn't him out of the bag. He looked at the picture, then it clicked. "Shit," Kenma remembered how he - (more like she) bumped into her and while he was grabbing what he thought to be his bag he grabbed hers instead. It was the only valid reasoning as to why she's the same girl in the picture.

Y/N gave a small meek smile to the three people in front of her. Her hand rested on her lap as she let their eyes take in her appearance, she must've looked like a hot mess in their eyes right about now. She awkwardly placed her hand over where the stain was to avoid their gaze. The three of them spared glances at each other.

The woman sighed. "Please introduce yourself."

Y/N quickly nods clearing her throat. "Hello, I'm Y/N L/N. I'm a college student in Astrophysics at Northwestern University. I would like to do my practicum in your wonderful office." Y/N knew she was being highly unprofessional once she came in. But, now that she was showing smiles and explaining herself she wasn't feeling too bad. This interview is gonna be a breeze!

The woman looks down at the files on her desk. "You're from an accounting background, no?"

"Why would you be applying for an Astrophysics practicum?"

"I love Astrophysics. My mother registered for the course for me. She thought it would be easier to get an accounting job. But after I studied at the university, I had found out I preferred Astrophysics more, and I've learned much more about Astrophysics. I've read so many books on stars, planets, the galaxy."

"I hope that you can give me a chance to learn more about Astrophysics." Y/N smiled as she waited for their reactions. The three looked at each other before gracing her with a smile. "Did you bring any sample work for our reference?"

The women added on. "They can be either images or text." Y/N nodded. "Yes, I did." She reached for her bag pulling out a cream-colored folder and placed it on the desk for them to view.

"Flaptap? A genius game?"

Y/N gave a quick blink as she reached for her bag, flipping through it. All she could see were books... stuff you'd bring to class. Opening up a wallet she read the name.

Y/N whispered as she read the name out loud. "Kenma Kozume..?" No way, this world has to hate her right now. "You should know that our company puts the utmost importance on reverence. We highly respect our clients and work. from what you've presented us today makes us think that you're not serious about this interview."

The woman handed her back the folder. "Let's not waste any more time, shall we." Y/N grabbed the folder apologize slipping past her lips as she scrambled out of the office.

Okay, well the interview was not a breeze.
