Chapter 1: The Promise

No One's POV

"I don't want to regret giving you this power, Nightmare. I saved your life and gave you powers you could only dream of. Don't make me regret it, and when the time comes, I want something in return." The mysterious person said.

"I understand, I promise  to repay you for saving my life." Nightmare replied.

The person vanished and Nightmare teleported away. Then he thought about exactly what had happened before all of that.

Nightmare POV

"Thank you, my dear." I said as I grabbed the glass of water Ccino handed me. I had been dating Ccino for two years now. I trusted him with anything and everything.

Ccino sat in a chair beside me and a cat hopped into his lap. He stroked it gently and sighed. "Nightmare I need to talk to you." He said.

"What is it?" I asked and took a drink of my water.

"It's about us. I don't think it's going to work out anymore. I.. I'm sorry. It's just, I have an actual café now, loads of cats, and I'm known around the multiverse. But you're.. not really what my costumers want to see, and we're complete opposites. I think it's time we break up." Ccino replied.

I choked on my water but managed to swallow it. I took a few more drinks of my water in silence before finally responding, this water seemed to be dragging me back after every tiny sip. "I.. understand what you mean." I forced a weak smile.

"I know, and I feel horrible for doing this but, we were never truly meant to be after all." He said.

We sat in silence and I finally finished my water and about to stand up when I was stopped. "So it's over now?" Ccino asked.

"I guess so, goodbye, Ccino." I replied but I felt too tired to get up now. My stomach was aching and my head felt as if it was bashed with a hammer over and over again.

"Goodbye indeed. Sleep tight, guardian." Ccino smirked. I struggled to focus my vision and understand what was going on.. Had he poisoned me?! I blacked out before I could reply.

I awoke in a bed of beautiful lime green flowers. In front of me stood a skeleton, they didn't seem to have plans to tell me their name or what they were doing here. I tried to sit up but I was too weak.

"Don't move my magic must have you still to work." They said.

"W.. Where am I?" I asked.

"An abandoned AU. I just saved your life. I couldn't let the balance be destroyed like he wanted." They replied.

"'He'?" I repeated.

"Ccino, that sick freak. But he is not that important at the moment, healing you is." They replied.

I stayed still and slowly felt my strength coming back to me and my magic felt more powerful than ever. Then the feeling stopped and I managed to sit up. "What just happened?" I asked.

"I gave you some of my magic, most of yours had died out because of Ccino knew it would kill you. Sadly, I had to give you more magic than I intended to and you might have way stronger powers. Only healing and strength should be stronger though." They explained.

I stretched a bit and got up. 

"I don't want to regret giving you this power, Nightmare. I saved your life and gave you powers you could only dream of. Don't make me regret it, and when the time comes, I want something in return." The mysterious person said.
