"𝐆𝐎𝐎𝐃 𝐌𝐎𝐑𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐆"-sae said as she tried to wake me up. "five more minutes!"-i said with my eyes still closed. "alright"-was all i heard from her. i drifted back to sleep and didnt even notice that sae has gone. "wake up"-i suddenly heard. i opened my eyes and saw sae again. she was holding food. "i got us both breakfast, now eat"-she said. i smiled at her. we both started eating and when we finished our food, the guards came into the room.
we were escorted to some white room. the third game was about to begin. we had to make teams of 10. we were already seven in our team; me, sae, ji-yeong, sangwoo, ali, gi-hun and the old man. we had to find three more people to our team. "we should look for men, we already have three women and an old man in our group"-sangwoo said. "do you think that women are something less than men..?"-i raised my eyebrows at him. "but men are stronger"-he said. "since when"
he didnt say anything. i could expect that.. "uhm, girls, lets quickly find someone to our team,"-gi hun tried to avoid conflicts and change the topic. "right," me, sae and ji-yeong went to look for some people to our team. "hey, wanna piss of sangwoo..?"-i said smirking at ji-yeong and sae. "sure"-they both say. i walked up to that woman, 212. "wanna join our team?"-i asked her. "you girls are lucky today to have me in your team!"-she says smiling at us. i turned around to sae. she nodded and smirked, which means -lets piss off that sexist bitch sangwoo-.
the three of us and 212 were walking back to our team. i saw another men in our team, who probably sangwoo brought. "who did you bring..?"-gi hun asked us. "they brought me!"-212 jumped from behind me. "i said to bring only men"-sangwoo spoke, giving us dirty looks. "and what now?"-i looked into his eyes. he sighed. he knew he couldnt do anything because the time was almost over.
evey team was now escorted to a big room. there were some... elevators? it was something strange. "welcome to the third game, you will be playing tug of war-"..uh, i used to be master in this game. one of my favorites. flashabacks from my childhood ran through my head. even though my childhood wasnt the greatest, there are some memories i am grateful for. the voice on the PA speaker repeated rules of the game twice and the game started. first two teams were called out. they had to pull rope so the other team falls to the ground.
(ⁱᵐ ᵇⁱᵗ ˡᵃᶻʸ ᵗᵒ ʷʳⁱᵗᵉ ʰᵒʷ ᵗʰᵉʸ ᵈⁱᵉᵈ ˢᵒ ˡᵉᵗˢ ˢᵏⁱᵖ ᵗʰⁱˢ ᵖᵃʳᵗ)
soon it was our turn. our team got into that weird elevator. now i finally felt fear. this may be my last minutes with sae and ji-yeong. i was very nervous. "whats wrong?"-i heard sae's voice while i was zooning out. "i dont want to die yet"-i said. "oh come on, you're not gonna die today, i promise" ... "i wish" ... "dont lose your spirit, sometimes its even more than strength"-the old man joined the conversation. he was right. positive mindset is sometimes much more than strength.
i felt really bad, i feel like i am going to faint. my head was spinning, and knowing that i might die wasnt helping it. "calm down, we will be okay"-ji yeong said. i nodded and calmed down a little bit. then we got to our side when our part of rope was.
(ⁱᵐ ˢᵗⁱˡˡ ˡᵃᶻʸ ˢᵒ ⁱᵐ ᵍᵒⁿⁿᵃ ˢᵏⁱᵖ ᵗʰᵃᵗ ᵖᵃʳᵗ ʷʰᵉⁿ ᵗʰᵉʸ ʷᵉʳᵉ ᶜᵒᵐᵖᵉᵗⁱⁿᵍ)
suddenly the opposite team lost control and fell to the ground. the rope was cut, so there wasnt any way for them to be alive. i heard their screams. it made me feel terrible. our team sighed in relief. yeah, i was alive but that guilt after seeing people die is probably even worse than dying by itself. maybe we all should get used to it in this place. everything here is so merciless that it hurts my thoughts even by only thinking about it.
we all got back to the elevator or so. "see, i told you,"-sae said to me, still gasping for air. "seems like you keep promises too"-i smiled at her. "i do"-she smiled back. i saw some man praying. it didnt really catch my anttention, but it did catch ji-yeong's. "who do you think you are praying to?"-she said to the man. "to god?"-he answered. "why do you thank god, you should thank US because without us you'd be now dead on that floor down there"-she said. "i pray to god to forgive us that those innocent people died because of us.." ... "if they were so innocent, they would't end up here"-ji yeong said. the silence was too loud. then ji-yeong started "praying", saying something about forgiveness. "shut up"-sae said, clearly being irritated. then we got out of the elevator and were escorted to the main room.
seeing 101's surprised face when we returned alive was the second best thing i have seen today. the first thing were sae's eyes. so pretty.
"i need to go to bathrooms, i'll be back soon"-i said. "wait i need to go too"-sae said following me. i nodded and we went to the bathrooms together. i went to one bathroom stall and went to pee. sae waited for me at the sinks. i came out of the stall to wash my hands. i looked into the mirror. she was looking in my eyes. "you're so pretty"-she said. "thats not funny"
"it wasnt even supposed to be a joke"
