I always wondered whether all Indian joint households are the same. A joint family where there are a lot of relatives and that one pair of Saas-Bahu who behave as though they are the Indian and Pakistan armies, fighting against each other at the border.

Like seriously, don't they have any other job than planning and plotting against each other?

The Bahu might be a good person in eternal pursuit of gaining her Saas' appreciation or acceptance. There is this terrible, cruel Saas who has no concern for other's feelings. She foils the bahu's plans to win her family's heart. And then there is the poor man, sandwiched between these two, trying to please both his mother and wife.

Mostly the Bahu tries to prepare a scrumptious delicious mouth watering meal for the family and the Saas goes on and destroys it by adding too much of salt and chilly powder slyly. The situation becomes comical when the husband tries to show that the food tastes AMAZING, when he is dying to go to visit the closest washroom. Wife expectantly, " How is it?"
Husband giving a pitiful mixture of expressions, " Great!! (chokes) (splutters) Superb!! (smiles)
You have cooked this with great love." Raising from the chair, " Please excuse me". He rushes to the toilet.

Nowadays, we do get to see normal saas and bahu pairs. But beware, any of them might change their colour like a chameleon.
