The pink gem's glare bore into Steven, his pupils dilating as he did so. The gem pointed to Steven, and spoke in a spine chilling yet emotionless voice.

"Mine."

Steven looked back up at Pearl, who was horrified at the sight. He struggled in her arms for bit until he was able to roll out of her grip, landing on his stomach.

Steven looked back up at the gem, who witnessed this. The pink gem stepped forward, though Steven took note that his breathing seemed to get more jagged as he did so. Actually, why was he breathing? Whatever.

The gem's eyes fixated on the boy. He couldn't stop staring. Something clicked in his mind, but the gem couldn't put his finger on what.

Steven, on the other hand, tried crawling towards the gem.

He could barely move as his entire body felt as if it was on fire, and he only stopped when a sudden sharp pain was felt in his head.

He clutched his hair and hissed in pain, worrying the curious gem.

"PEARL! come help me out here!!" He yelled at Pearl, who was dumbstruck in fear and surprise.

Steven sighed out as he felt Pearl's skinny yet strong arms wrap around his torso. "Thanks.." he mumbled as they attempted to reach the gem.

The pink gem started to walk towards them as well, the distance closing between them though it still felt like an eternity before Steven and his gem could be close enough to hold one other.

As Pearl let go of the boy in her arms, Steven slightly hissed in pain from the movement. The diamond's eyes widened a bit, concern filling his enchanting fuchsia eyes.

Finally, they touched.

God, that feeling was magical.

The love and adoration the gem felt for Steven flooded his senses, and soon the only things he could just barely focus on besides the waves of pure adoration and energy was that pink figure he embraced.

"We.. belong to each other?" The pink gem questioned after what seemed like an eternity. His voice was now soft, loving yet filled with that uncertainty Steven was so familiar with.

Steven nodded excitedly. Maybe the gem- his gem could answer his questions.

But before he could even process what he would've asked, another pink, skinny and enraged gem grasped and threw Steven to the other side of the field.

Steven landed with a sharp, blinding pain. Being suddenly ripped from his life source didn't help either.

Steven slowly looked up, a migraine and a ringing in his ears building up as he did so. He watched in horror as his gem was slashed with a scythe-type weapon.

He suddenly had a flash of a memory burst into his mind. He got hit with that thing! Is that why pearl was so concerned? And his gem was ripped out of him?

Before he could think of anything else, however, his gem's form dissipated in a cloud of soft pink smoke.

Shit.

Steven panicked. Not again. Hell no.

He didn't know how long his gem was going to take to reform now, with being hit with that weapon twice now, especially now that the unknown gem has hit the pure power of the gem instead of having Steven as an extra few layers of protection.

Fuck fuck fuck.

He panicked, his breathing becoming laboured and raspier now that his gem was gone.

He coughed and sputtered, bringing attention to him.

The mystery gem glared in his direction for a moment, then smiled in a venomous and acrid way.

"Well, well~ Now who's got the high ground!" The gem's high pitched and disdainful voice rang through the air.

Steven looked up through his blurred and teary eyes.

He glowered at her, already hating him with all the atoms in his body right when he laid his eyes on her tear stained and exhausted looking face.

"I guess now there's no reason to come and kill you, you're powerless and weak without your gem! Though I'm disappointed I wouldn't be able to shatter this ugly, disgusting form of you." She snickered.

"Wh-who... Who in hell do you think you are," Steven spat angrily at her through tight, gritted teeth.

"Ohhoho!! Don't think you can just SAY that and think I'm gonna tell you that easily, Stevie! You know goddamn well who I am by now."

Steven took a thorough up-down look at her several times- well, as thorough as you can get when you're slowly dying- yet nothing came to mind. Suddenly, an obvious answer came to mind.

"If this is about Rose-""OF COURSE THIS ABOUT THAT BASTARD!" The gem screamed at him.

Her voice echoed around his head, the ringing in his ears making it almost impossible to hear while the headache increased to where he thought his head was being bashed through with a heavy crowbar.

He groaned in pain, already missing the soft thrum of warmth of his gem's touch.

"L-look, I'm not her, okay? She's not coming back-" He croaked out, but (again) was rudely interrupted.

"Oh, I know you aren't her, but that doesn't mean I forgot she abandoned me like a piece of garbage! Do you know how long I stood there like a fool for star's sake?!"

She screamed and thrashed about, waving that deadly sythe around like a fucking toy. He started to crawl away from her, inch by inch, but she had noticed.

She suddenly yanked the collar of his shirt and pulled him close to her face.

"I've waited thousands of years for her to come back, only to be told that she died and turned into this puny little organic?! Is this some sort of sick joke??"

He winced at her screaming, and tried to pull her arms off of him. He obviously failed, especially since he'd been weakened.

"Now, I'm going to destroy this entire fucking planet until it's the worthless piece of dust it is!" She screamed in his face and threw him back to the ground.

"And th-then what? You're just gonna leave and do what..?" He choked out, looking at her with his half blind eyes. "Nobody's going to take you in. In fact, everybody is just going to abandon you again because you've destroyed the most peaceful civilization!"

She looked at him with momentary rage and anguish, before giving him a thoughtful look.

"I.. Well.." She glanced to the side and thought for a moment, before shaking her head and raising the sythe with an angry expression.

"J-just can it already, won't ya?!" She screamed, and started to lower the sythe.

But before it could hit Steven, a bright light erupted from behind her and a went through her form and firmly clutched her gem, proofing her.

Steven looked back up to see who did this, and was utterly astounded and frightened.

His gem, a perfect pink replica, dressed in a regal gown not too unlike his mother's.
