It was the first day back into your seventh year of Hogwarts. You were sad that this was your last year because this school just felt like home to you and you didn't know what you were going to do without it. When you had gotten off the train you had found your fellow house mates and met up with them to walk to the great hall for your last first day.
The great hall was just as you had remembered. Each table for each house spread evenly across the room and students were already filling the seats quickly. When you had seen a few vacant seats near the head of the table, you grabbed your two best friends rose and grace and started walking to grab the seats. You looked up to see the professors so you could wave to them all, and to no surprise everyone had said hello except the Slytherins head of house Professor Snape.
You didn't have a problem getting "along" with Snape and it seems he didn't mind you as much as Snape couldn't mind anyone. You just hated how he treated some of the student because they were either terrified of him or because they just genuinely couldn't grasp potion making. You were lucky you could keep up and didn't mind potions. Dumbledore had asked you over the summer if you would like to stay at the school and apprentice a class of your choice because you could hold your own when it came to classes in general. He told you to respond to his questions in his office after dinner today and have some lemon drops with him.
You loved the first meals of the year because there were always more deserts than the other days and you loved cream puffs. Just sweets in general. While you were busy stuffing your face you noticed someone from the table up front staring at you, and you had caught Snape just staring at you devouring cream puffs. You quickly turned out of embarrassment and when you looked back he wasn't at the table anymore.
When you had finished your dinner you started walking to meet Dumbledore in his office. Quickly stepping to the top step so you didn't have to walk up them. You knocked on the door softly, and saw Snape standing in front of the desk. It looked like they could have been waiting for you. Dumbledore was quick to speak. "Good evening Ms.L/N I hope you've enjoyed todays deserts." You blushed slightly at that but still responded with a nice good evening to the both of them.
"When I asked you to come to my office today I hope you had made a decision about what I wrote to you over the summer break" I nodded. "Yes sir. I had a question on how I would be starting." Dumbledore smiled with that cheeky smile. "Ah yes. Severus here would love to have you apprentice the first 4 months of school for potions and also just talk about Potions. Then you will be with Ms.McGonagall for two months and then a professor of your choosing for one month." Snape snapped his head and shot back with a sneer.
"I do not want to have some idiot slow student pulling me back from my work-" Dumbledore cut him off. "Ah ah Severus. Were both aware that Y/N can very much so handle this because she only has to take a couple of classes this year, and she is a smart witch." Snape still didn't look pleased. "But sir she cant possibly-" Dumbledore stood up. "That will be enough of that Severus. She starts on Monday. She will be with you everyday Monday through Friday from 11am to 4pm. Have a nice day the both of you."
Snape didn't give another glance when he stormed out of the room and you said thank you to Dumbledore for the opportunity and he winked at you. "One more thing Y/N. You are of age and I cant say much to tell you what to do. Just be safe and I'm here to help." You had no clue why he said that, but you nodded and left his office.
Snape grabbed you into a dark corridor and grabbed you wrist. he pushed you against the wall to get into your face and said. "Listen here you fucking imbecile. Don't think I won't be watching you every step of the way got it?" You pushed him away. "You cant talk to me like that. I will be fine and probably do a fucking better job than you anyways." He must've been surprised by my strength because he just scoffed and walked off. My advantage is that I actually care about the success of others, and I'm determined to put him in his place.
Later that day you were on your way to the library to read over the itinerary for the next few months. You were lucky that you were good with tutoring some of your friends so you weren't to stressed when it came to planning out how you could work with everyone in the classroom. You had tutored many of your friends in the previous years, including Neville Longbottom. You were pretty sure you could just about teach anyone after Ronald Weasly as well. You found your way into a secret room with a round table and a bench surround it in a circle. The small room was lit up just enough to be relaxing and you were able to see your work clearly without strain.
You were just more than halfway through planning out the first month when you hear someone opening the door you thought nobody could see but yourself because it blended in with the wall outside. What you weren't expecting was to see Snapes face. This must be where he goes when he's in charge of watching over some of the students in the library. "Oh. Hi." Snape was about to roll his eyes and walk away until you let out a quick "wait." It came out louder than you thought. He turns back to you waiting for you to say something. "I'm sorry for getting upset. It was inappropriate of me to lash out back to you because you're still my teacher. Would you like to join me? I was just about finished prepping the first month."
He was reluctant at first and was going to turn to leave, when he stopped in his tracks and moved to sit across from you at the round table. He used his wand to summon a couple of books, as well as a quill and some parchment. Snape began to read the books and it looked like he seemed be taking some notes. You noticed the title of the book and it was a very rare book on potions... Of course. Snape looked up from his writing and you blushed because you'd been caught staring unknowingly. "I. Also apologize for my behavior. Would you like to join me into Hogsmede tomorrow at noon?" The look on your face priceless and your cheeks were crimson. You nodded your head. "Yes I will join you tomorrow." With that you both sat in silence for the rest of the evening and continued on with what you were doing.
