"So, you're finally awake huh?"
Austin didn't recognize the voice, and he didn't have time to think about it since the shadow figure revealed himself, finally allowing Austin to match their voice to a face.
Dumbfounded by the sight before him, with a disheveled man staring into his soul with his tired, slightly sunken eyes. His messy hair covering some of his face, black clothing almost hiding their body in the dark. His gloved hands, however, were clearly visible, slowly easing up and down the handle of an axe."Greetings Austin, my name is Henry." Said with such inflection, it was enough to make Austin jolt up, feeding his desire to escape. Austin tried to scream, but it was no use with his covered mouth. Scared shitless, Austin began to struggle, hoping that he could somehow topple over, taking Henry down for even just a minute.
His struggling only seemed to please Herny, who proceeded to kick the chair's leg, sending Austin crashing down, face-planting on the floor. The pained grunt Austin released after impact only made Henry smile wider. Figuring out that he could pretty much do nothing, Henry tried to look up at his captor, only to be met by the sole of a shoe. Henry took a knee, applying more pressure on Austin's head the lower he went."Let's get right into business, shall we?"
Austin closed his eyes for impact as Henry swung his axe.
But, nothing happened.
Confused, Austin opened his eyes to see that Henry's attention had diverted towards the scattered documents on the floor. He must have felt some movement under his foot since he looked down with a smug look. Henry picked them off the floor and read them for a bit. Austin yelled muffled profanities at him to get him to stop, but Henry still prevailed.
"Reclamation huh?", he said after a while. ", Heh, you really think your high rank will get this game somewhere? Unbelievable, it's funny how you think you can just breeze through this job so easily. I've been in this company for far longer than you have, working so hard, hoping to get some praise, some recognition. But this," Henry shook the document folder, then his head, All the while Austin glared at him. ", this just reinforces my envy. But, it's a good thing I have you all to myself now. And, I'm going to be the first to tell you that just because your work is praised by everyone around here, deep down you know that this game is nothing but trash. And we can have trash going around here, can we?" He ripped the folder in half, carelessly throwing them into a nearby trash can.
Austin's breathing increased as his body began to twitch with rage. If he hadn't been tied up so well he would have given this bastard what he was asking for.
Or was he?
While Henry was skimming through Reclamation, Austin had managed to undo the rope that held him back. He had already put his plan of escaping into motion, he just had to maintain the act up in hopes that Henry would get closer.
To his luck, Henry did just that by once again stomping on Austin's head. This time he made sure to mess up Austin's hair, savoring every second of his suffering, allowing this moment to fully seep in. Henry prepped himself.Mid-swing, Austin yanked Henry's foot. Surprised, his body stiffened, arms still up as he fell back first, releasing his axe the moment he came in contact with the floor. Without a second to spare, Austin scampered to it, frantically using the axe to cut the ropes that bound both his and the chair's legs together. Not wanting to let his prey escape, Henry tackled Austin, forcing him underneath him. Using the axe's handle in a defensive position, Austin managed to create a barrier between them. Both their expressions were that of pure rage. Two animalistic beings going at it, thirsting for blood. With his freed legs, Austin gave a foul kick to Henry in the gut, once again beckoning him to the floor. Austin was determined to make him spend the rest of his life there as he slammed his boot onto his chest. Henry let out a disgustingly dry wheeze, followed by sporadic coughing. With the ripping of his mouth cover, Austin mustered, "If we truly are getting rid of any filth here, they must have forgotten to pass by your office this morning."
"Your comebacks are as shitty as your games." Henry snapped back in between his coughing fit. Austin let out a shout of frustration and took a good swing. The movement was clean, sending blood oozing out. Henry's body instantly went limp as his head began to slowly drift away from his body. His eyes had been closed as tightly as his body allowed him to, the snarl he wore was loosening. Once tense shoulders had finally fallen while his hands were released from their claw-like formation. Resting on the floor, Henry grew colder as he began to bathe in his own blood.
With his breathing as frantic as ever, Austin slumped over, unintentionally getting a better view of the damage he did. He should have felt remorse, but instead, Austin felt justice with the idea that a pent up evil had been vanquished from not only Henry, but himself. Austin watched as the blood pile spread, engulfing the trash can. Tossing the axe aside, Austin shakily took what remained of his concept out. He thumbed through it, watching as small bits of paper fell, almost dissolving when it hit the sprawled out blood. He sighed. Of course, Austin knew he could just make a new copy, but why did it matter? He began to second guess himself, reflecting what Henry had said. Austin always figured that there would always gonna be haters, all waiting for him to fail and collapse in on himself, Henry was no exception. So then why was he pondering on what Henry told him? Why did this guy's opinion suddenly matter anyway? Were this musty, almost secluded man's thoughts really as valuable as his manager Todd's, hell even better than his boss's?
Austin scoffed as he turned back to face the mangled body.
He deserved it.
It was either him or me, thought Austin.
The choice was clear.
