[Blush is a medium, dusty pink that is cooler than dark pink and paler than rouge. The color reminds me of laying your eye on someone special for the first time.]

The second day of school always felt like a fever dream. Being tired from staying up late the night before and coming to terms with the fact that summer really is over was never an easy thing.

As I entered the hallways of the school, I looked around and noticed none of my friends were there, which was surprising because class would have started in only ten minutes. I walked into the office to greet the front desk lady and asked when we would get our lockers.

"The seniors get a priority on the lockers, so the juniors will get their hands on them next week," she gave me a warm smile.

"Thank you," I nodded politely and exited into the hallway, and this time, I saw Zoe and Aurora nearby the high school lockers.

"Hey," I said as I approached them, "We missed you yesterday, Aurora."

"Sorry, I had my piano lesson. Let's hang out next week?"

I nodded and told them about my conversation with the front desk lady.

"Aw, that's a bummer. All the close-by lockers will be gone by next week," Zoe commented.

"Well, let's hope not."

The rest of our group members joined us one by one and we made some small talk until it was time to go to class. I had Algebra 2 along with Zoe and Tiffany.

"So not looking forward to this," Tiffany sighed.

"Me either, Math is my worst subject," I nodded my head.

We walked into the classroom and luckily, we were allowed to sit with whomever we pleased. After sitting down at a table of four with Zoe and Tiffany, the teacher and TA passed out our brand new books and asked us to put our names in the designated area.

The teacher then started going over expectations for the year and got started on chapter one. Our classes were designed after university classes, therefore each class was an hour and fifty minutes. So naturally, halfway through the class, my boredom kicked in and the rest of the class passed by a blur.

After algebra 2, we had a 20 minutes breakfast break. Zoe and I decided to stay back in the classroom and got started on the homework.

"Today's lesson was easy enough," Zoe said as she wrote down the first problem.

"Hopefully, it stays like that." We finished all 4 math problems in 15 minutes and talked until we had to go to our next class.

"What class do you have next?"

"Spanish 1," I put away the math book in my backpack, "You?"

"AP Spanish," Zoe said as she put away her notebook and pencil.

"I wish we were in the same class."

"Me too." We said goodbye to the teacher as we walked out of the class and hugged each other before going to our designated classes.

I walked in and said 'good morning' to the teacher who stood in front of the whiteboard. I scanned the class and was surprised to find I didn't know anyone in the class. I was aware Spanish was a mixed grade class so I didn't question it. I didn't take Spanish in my previous school due to having a dance class so there was a big possibility everyone in this class was one grade lower than me. I took a seat on the last row beside a guy I didn't recognize. He smiled politely at me and I smiled back but neither one of us spoke.
