Borje and Nadine were halfway to their destination when they came to a great surprise. They walked up to a town square with several American soldiers in it.

“Wow. Um…well…OK. That sure is a turn of events,” Borje stated blandly.

“I can’t believe that lily-livered coward snitched,” Nadine said angrily, thinking back on when they saved the soldier.

“Well, we need to travel through the back alleys so we don’t get caught,” Borje instructed.

“Um…,” Nadine said, looking a bit surprised by his sudden leadership. “Yeah, that’s a good idea, let’s go.”

They went into the back alleys and were turning the corner when they ran into an American soldier. “Hey you, come here. I need to ask you a couple questions.” He called Borje over, not noticing who it was.

“Run!” Nadine whispered to Borje. They weaved through the alleys until they found a cellar.

“Here, hide in here!” Borje whispered loudly in Nadine’s ear, pulling her in the cellar right before the soldier turned the corner.

The soldier ran right past them. They slept through the night and as they woke up Nadine asked what time it was, thinking he had some sort of watch.

“6 o’ clock,” borje responded as he checked his watch. Amazed by the watch, Nadine asked what is was.

“It was my grandfather’s. It’s apparently worth a lot. We should get going.”
