George woke up and checked his phone. He got a message from Madrona.
"Hey! Remember when you told me you liked Dream?"
George blushed at the message and typed back, putting his phone down and getting dressed.
"Yeah, why?" After a long wait, his phone went off.
"I was thinking..maaaaybe...I get you two together..? Or just talking like friends!"
George put his sunglasses over his head and grabbed his phone, bag, keys, and his earbuds. He checked the message and his eyes widened. He decided to respond quickly.
"No! Absolutely not! Unless you want me dead, there is no way in hell I'm doing that!" George shook his head and put his phone in his pocket. The current events motivated him to focus a lot more on driving. Once he arrived at the school, Beth walked up to him with Madrona.
"George, Madrona told me her plan. We are doing it whether you like it or not" Beth said, smiling at George. George sighed, knowing now that Beth is in on it, there is no backing down.
"Madrona, you know exactly what you did" George said looking at Madrona, a smile starting to spread across his face.
"What can I say? I have my ways" said Madrona with a wink. The trio walked into school and went their separate ways, going to their lockers. George saw Sapnap in the corner of his eye, kiss a boy and run off. He turned and looked at the boy he had kissed and laughed a bit. It was Karl. One of George's friends. Sapnap had a huge crush on Karl, it made George happy to see Sapnap finally asked him out. George put his locker combo in and opened his locker. He grabbed some books and put them in his bag. When he closed his locker, Dream was leaning against the one next to his. Obviously, it was Dreams locker, but it still caused George to jump when he saw him.
"C'mon man, do you seriously have to scare me like that" exclaimed George and he took a deep breath. Dream chuckled and crossed his arms.
"Awe, are you scared of me loser?" George shook his head and sighed. He looked up at Dream and decided he would try to do what Madrona and Beth wanted.
"Dream, do you want to get lunch with me later" he said, avoiding eye contact. Dream sat up straight and laughed a little.
"Is the loser asking me on a date?" George sighed and looked up at Dream.
"No, it's just someone wanting a friend."
Dream laughed even more at that.
"I pushed you around a bit and now you want friends. Fine. I'll take your invitation, but that doesn't change anything between us. Not at all." George nodded and turned, walking to his class. Dream shoved him a bit but either way, he got to class.
"Well?" George turned and saw Beth, obviously waiting for an answer.
"We are going out to lunch later. But! It means nothing" George responded sitting down. But only that information made Beth happy. The class was slow, but when it came to an end, George grabbed his stuff and smiled. His next class was AP world history. He loved world history. He went to his locker, put some books back and grabbed his AP textbook. He went to his class and enjoyed every second of it.
**Small Time Skip**
It was now lunch time. George walked out of his last class till after lunch and waited by his locker. Dream soon rounded the corner and walked up to George.
"Alright, let's get this over with." George nodded and walked out the school with Dream. He got in his car and unlocked the door for Dream. Dream got in and fixed his mask.
"I hope you know how to drive" Dream commented. George rolled his eyes and backed out of his parking spot, leaving the student parking lot. Keeping his eyes on the road he decided to try and make some conversations.
"So, where do you wanna eat?" Dream didn't respond. George sighed and shook his head.
"Pizza is cool. I seen a Blaze Pizza up the street. Just make a left at the light and it should be on the right-hand side" Dream said not looking at George. George smiled. That lifted his spirits just a little bit. Once he completed all the directions he was given, he pulled up to Blaze Pizza. They both got out the car silently and walked into the restaurant. Dream looked at the menu and nodded to himself. George decided what he wanted and waited. Him and Dream stood there awkwardly. They got their food and George quickly paid, seeing Dream taking out his wallet. Dream looked at him, dumbfounded, then looked away, shoving his wallet back in his pocket. George smiled and found a place to sit. He started eating and pause. How was Dream gonna eat with his mask on? He looked up hoping to see him take his mask off. But, to his disappointment, he just put it under his mask and ate his pizza peacefully. George sighed and continued to eat his pizza. Dream saw this and smiled under his mask. Soon George, he thought. George looked up at Dream and decided to try and make small talk.
"So, that fight with Sully. Why were you guys fighting in the first place?" Dream put down his pizza down and wiped his hand with a napkin.
"Didn't you read the school Instagram? All the information is there. You're the one who asked me about it anyway" Dream said, taking a sip of his drink. George shrugged. Truth was, he didn't even read the school page much. He simply glanced at the information but wasn't bothered to read it.
"Well, besides that, what do you even do at school" George asked. Dream laid back and crossed his arms.
"Go to class and do school work. You know, what everyone does when they go to school" answered Dream, some bitterness in his sentence. George sighed and knew he just had to go with it if he wanted to be friends with Dream.
"You're right. I'm sorry." Dream looked at George and just shook his head, continuing to eat. After they finished eating, they got back into George's car and drove back to school. Not a very long drive but the tension burdened the drive. Once they pulled into the student parking lot, George got out and decided to ask Dream a question that he had been wondering for a while.
"Dream, why do you bully me?" Dream leaned against the car and looked at George.
"What do you mean why? Look at you. Nothing more than a loser trying to fit in. Joined the football team hoping for some kind of popularity to spark from that" Dream said coldly. George took a shaky breath and decided to stick up for himself.
"Y'know, I actually am popular. But it's not because I'm on the football team, it's because I'm actually a good person. People know me for being nice. What are you popular for? Being a douche. People know you for how rude you are." Dream laughed and stood up straight.
"Trust me, I'm proud of that. I don't need to be a good person to get by, unlike you. You're just a mommy's boy who will do anything if it means he could make people like him. A people pleaser. That's all you are. Nothing more. The very sight of you makes me cringe. The way you walk around thinking you're so important, with your stupid friends."
"My friends are not stupid" George spit back. Dream walked over to George and leaned close. George could feel tears coming. But he didn't dare to let them fall.
"God, you're such a pest. Why did I even agree to go eat lunch with you? This was a mistake. Not only that, a huge waste of my time." Dream was about to go when he noticed George wipe his eye. George quickly wiped both his eyes and looked at Dream.
"Fine. Go then. Since I'm such a pest and since I'm such a people pleaser, you should go" George said, taking deep breaths trying to hold in his emotion. He wasn't sad. He was disappointed. Angry. But never sad. Dream sighed and leaned against George's car.
"George..don't cry. Look I just, I'm not much of a people person. I don't really have many friends and either way, I generally don't surround myself with people I would be stupid enough to trust. In my opinion, if you expect disappointment, you won't be disappointed, you know?" George looked at Dream and nodded.
"It's just, I kinda live in my own world. In that world, I have to fend for myself. I am independent. It's a world where I won't get hurt in. Where I don't have to depend on anyone other than myself" Dream said, looking down. George wondered why Dream was telling him this. Maybe he was in distress and opens up when he is? Yeah, that's got to be the reason.
"Dream, you shouldn't be telling me this. We both were just mad, and I don't think you really want to be telling me of all people this. Bully me all you want, at this point, I don't care anymore. We don't have to be friends" George muttered. Dream shook his head.
"No. I think we give this a try. You don't deserve to be treated the way I treat you. I just..I just wish I could have what you have. You seem to live your best life and I just kinda exist. Don't get me wrong, I have an amazing life but something about it just seems..boring." George looked at Dream and sighed. He stood in front of him.
"Let's try to be friends, okay? But let me tell you. My life is far from perfect. Nobody has a perfect life. It can feel like everything is going your way and it can feel perfect, but nothing is truly perfect. Cut yourself some slack. I'm sure if you lower your standards of life, your life would be, in your words, perfect. But you can't always expect everything to be perfect. I understand, expect disappointment so you don't get disappointed but why don't you try to see it from a different angle? Disappointment comes with perfect you know." Dream looked at George and sighed. He didn't know if he could trust George. But George's words made him take that step forward.
"Alright. Friends" said Dream. George smiled and nodded.
"Well then, I'll see you around." Dream nodded and they went their separate ways, both feeling rather happy. When George walked into the school, Beth and Madrona we're waiting.
"Well," asked Madrona with a big smile on her face. George smiled and nodded his head. That cause both Madrona and Beth to squeal with happiness and hug George. After their little group hug, the bell rang for their final class. Madrona looked at George and Beth with a smile.
"You guys go to class, I'll catch up." Both Beth and George nodded, walking off. Madrona waited till they were far and pulled out her phone. She dialed a number and waited.
"Hey, it's me. Get ready. Our plan just fell right into place."
