"1 month!" Cade said cheerfully as he marked off his calendar.
He ran downstairs to tell his mom.
"Hey mom guess what? It's been 1 month since I've started my transition!!""Wow that's awesome. I can't believe it's already been a month." Cade's mom said as she handed him a plate with toast with grape jelly.
Cade quickly ate the toast and asked for 2 more pieces. That's about the only change he's noticed so far; that he is a lot more hungry than usual.
Cade recently had started taking testosterone to help transition easily, because he was transgender. Every week, he would get a shot on his leg. This would make it so Cade would go through male puberty.
Cade came out as transgender when he was 14 years old. His mom took him to the endocrinologist shortly after, and he found out he couldn't take testosterone shots until he was 16. But now it had been a month since he started.
The bus came shortly after Cade finished his toast and he went to school.

Cade arrived at 7:45, 15 minutes before he had to be to his first class. He went upstairs to the band room to go meet up with his buddy's. Cade was greeted at the door by his band director. He said "good morning Rachel! It's nice to see you."Cade HATED being called Rachel. It was the name given to him at birth, but after he came out as trans, he changed it to Cade. Only Cade and his family referred to him as that.
As he stepped further in, he was greeted by tons of people, just like any other morning. Except today, his best friend Lauren said "hey Rachel. Is it just me or is your voice different? It sounds a little lower and you just don't seem yourself."
Cade felt guilty for not coming out to his own best friend and just pushed the feelings away by saying "yeah I'm fine. And I don't feel so well, that's probably why it sounds different." Then, he faked a few coughs.
Lauren shrugged and walked over to some boys standing in a circle. Cade felt a sense of relief throughout his body and took a seat to watch the morning announcements.
