Just as the morning announcements ended, Cade stood up and went to his locker. As he opened it up, a piece of paper fell out. It was folded perfectly and had the word Rachel written in cursive.
Cade opened the letter up and started reading it. He glanced down at the signature. As he read the words that said "love Lauren", he crumpled it up. Guilt was rising throughout his body. He decided to tell Lauren, and then opened up the letter.
"Dear Rachel, how are you? You seem to be acting different. More...masculine. I'm not sure what's up with you. Are you depressed? What's wrong? Meet me after school in the band room I wanna talk to you."
That note made Cade feel sick to his stomach. She noticed something was changing. And Cade knew how Lauren was. She forced whatever you had to say out of you and then had nothing to do with you afterwards.
Cade slammed his locker shut, hit his head against it saying "why me"
Then the bell rang. He ran to his first class- Social Studies.
