[Rayne's POV]
"Will you ever forgive me,your father?"
I couldn't believe what is happening right now. I don't want to believe in anything, it's just not possible. I mean why would he come to my life now? Why not all those years ago? Why now? I don't know what to do other than to stare at his face, looking at him as if he just grew two heads in front of me.
"Rayne dear, come and sit down so we can talk about it. Please dear." pled my mom as she look at me with a guilty face. I didn't even notice them sitting there. I saw my dad grabbed her hand and rubbed circles with his thumb on her hand, then he look at me and smile as if he was trying to comfort me.
I shook my head at them and glanced at everyone in the room as if they were trying to kill me.Quickly I ran out of the living room and to the front door.I passed by my brother who tried to grab my wrist but I yanked out of it, "Ray, where are you going?! Ray!" I ignored him and continue running to the front door, I opened the door and slammed it shut behind. Finding my brother's skateboard on the porch, I grabbed it and skate through the neighborhood. I don't know where I'm going but I know it's not anywhere near home. I skated for 30 minutes until I'd reached the city and then I took the bus to the beach which was an hour away and thankfully I had some cash in my pocket.
Once I'd stepped out of the bus, I realised something. It's around 6pm and I'm at the beach but I'm only wearing my pajamas which by the way consists of me wearing my track pants and a over large t-shirt, plus since I was in a hurry I didn't wear my socks and I can feel the air coming through my shoes. I sighed, what a wonderful birthday it is. I walked along the shore and sat down on a log, thinking how did my life turn out like this? I knew I was adopted, well I found out about it accidentally when I hid inside my mum's closet when I was about 10 years old. I saw this pretty box with an initial 'R' engraved on it, the box had spiral patterns around it and it's was as big as a Monopoly box. Me, being the curious kid I was, decided to open it and see what was inside. Inside the box were paper documents of my adoption, baby clothes and a letter from my biological mother. Even though I was 10 that time, I do know what those papers were and even until now I still remember what was written on the letter.
That day, I decided to forget about it. I'd want to ask mum and dad but I just couldn't do it. I was happy at that time and I didn't want anything to change so I kept that little secret to myself for the past 6 years and I thought I could keep it to myself for, well, forever. Thinking back, even if I'd asked them about it I'm pretty sure they would have told me another lie or pretended that I didn't ask them anything.
The sun was setting down, the pale tint of orange seen over the horizon of the ocean and the sound of crashing waves calm me down. The sound of the waves, the chripping of the birds and the calmness of the ocean were like a lullaby putting me to sleep on the soft and sandy white sands...
[Mason's POV]
"Fuck! Where the hell did she run off to!" I was getting frustrated since Rayne has been gone for over 3 hours and I have been searching from her favorite stores to asking her friends to where she could have gone to but there's no luck. I tried calling her phone but she won't answer it. Damnit! I'd expected her to yell when they told her the news but I did not expect her to run away, well none of us actually expected her to react that way. There's still one place that I haven't search. I'm running out of places of where she could have gone to so that's the last possible place she could go. The beach. It's far from the city like an hour away. We always go there whenever it was summer or just to get away from everything. It's kind of like our thinking spots.
It was a good thing I thought about the beach. She's here. A few metres away from me and I think she's ... sleeping? I approached her from the distance and indeed she fell asleep with her body curled up. "She's so gonna catch a cold." I sighed. I covered her with my jacket which thankfully I took with me, and sat next to her. I called the house phone and my older sister, Adriella, answered it at the second ring, "Hello?"
