"Why do you keep coming here?" Ajax's ear twitched.

"You haven't been taking care of this shrine very well, have you?" Zhongli asked, picking up a broom to sweep.

"No one comes here anyway. The inside is nice and tidy," Ajax defended.

"Do you remember your promise to me?" Zhongli asked, leaning against the broom.

"Hm? Why should I remember anything about a human like you?"

"You said...when I got older you'd show me a good time," Zhongli spoke quietly, a bit disappointed.

"Ohhhh," Ajax rubbed the back of his fluffy ear. "I briefly remember something like that happening. So, you were that kid that stumbled in here by accident?" Ajax snickered. "Was I so beautiful that I haunted you until you became an adult?" he grinned, tempted to wink.

"Ah, mhm, yeah," Zhongli nodded.

"Wait, seriously?" Ajax felt his cheeks get hot. "What a perverted little human you are. It's not good to be obsessed with a kitsune, you know? Maybe I should kick you out permanently."

"Like the oni?" Zhongli looked over his shoulder at the oni sitting behind the barriers.

"He's stubborn," Ajax's tail flicked in annoyance. "He wants to fight me but I ref-" Ajax grinned, hiding his smile behind his long sleeve. "Say, are you a fighter, human?"

"I'm trained..."

"Great," he moved his hand and a gust of wind pushed Zhongli outside of the barriers. "If you can beat him, I'll let you back in!" Ajax smirked. "I'll even give you a reward," he promised, certain Zhongli would lose.

"Okay," Zhongli nodded.

"You're going to fight me?" Itto beamed, standing up. His legs were sore from staying in the same position for so long. "Interesting. You're not scared of an oni, human?"

"My name is Zhongli."

"Now, time for me to take a nap," Ajax laid down in front of the shrine and closed his eyes.

...

"I've won, let me back in, please," Zhongli spoke.

"Ahaha, maybe you should try again a few times before crying to me," Ajax's eyes fluttered open. He was half asleep and didn't hear properly.

"I said I won."

"You what?" Ajax sat up and looked at the bruised oni, sitting in the same position he started in.

"Please keep your word and let me back in."

"Right, right," Ajax lifted his fingers and the barrier ceased keeping Zhongli out. The human walked toward the yokai.

"What's my reward?"

"Your what?"

"You said you'd give me a reward if I won. What is it?" Zhongli smiled slightly.

"Oh, uhm," Ajax thought for sure he would lose. He looked around, trying to think of something. Then he realized...this kid likes him. Maybe if he did something to tease him he'd realize what a mess he'd gotten himself into. "Come here," he gestured with his finger for Zhongli to step closer. "That's close enough." Ajax moved his hand to Zhongli's leg, and up his inner thigh. He grazed his crotch area and moved up to Zhongli's tie. Ajax grabbed it, forcing Zhongli to lean down, and then stared at his lips. He glanced up to Zhongli's eyes and smirked. He nearly kissed him but at the last second kissed his cheek instead. "There you go. Your reward." Ajax released Zhongli's tie and leaned back down against the shrine's floor. He brought the kiseru to his lips and smoked.

Zhongli's face was quite red. He lifted his fingers to his cheek. "That's all?"

"Of course that's all, human, you're much too young for me," Ajax closed his eyes, sighing.

"There is something more to this, isn't there?" Zhongli stared down at the kitsune. "Do you already have someone?"

"Mm," Ajax stared off into the distance. "I'm waiting for Morax to return."

"Morax? The god of this shrine?"

"Yes," Ajax replied. "Morax."

"How many years have you waited for someone that will not show up?"

"You've never been in love, have you? It's no wonder you say such cruel things. Human," Ajax stood up, glaring down at Zhongli from the step up on the shrine. "Don't think you may avoid my wrath should you insult my archon again."

"Are all kitsune this loyal?"

"No, just that idiot!" Itto answered the question for him, laughing at the top of his lungs.
