Awakening · Pt. 19

The images stop flashing and everything goes black once more. One minute. Two. The time of nothing but blankness continues to build up as I remain unconscious. There's just nothing. It's peaceful, at least for a moment.

A static buzzing starts to fill my ears and more sights start in again like a glitch. Stitches. Branches. Blood. Trouble. They're in trouble. I need to help. But I can't move!

I can't see what's happening but something is wrong. There's a special grade. Maybe two, I can't tell. There's a fight. I need to help but I can't do anything; I can't wake myself up. It's getting hard to breath but I still can't do anything.

"Shh..." I hear someone hush and my thoughts calm. Everything seems to freeze in place as I seemingly zone out. I feel something overwhelmingly surround me suddenly. There's a curse. Grade 3 maybe. No, there's multiple. Is it me?

It feels suffocating. What's happening!? I can't tell what's happening!

Everything fades back to black and nothing else happens after that.

3rd POV
Itadori and Todo stand back from the suddenly power formed trench in front of them, unsure of whether or not the special grade is done for. They step back partially relieved. Several of them were injured but at least for now they've gotten rid of the special grade issue.

Still, Itadori remains nervous. He knows you split off with Fushiguro and Maki, but neither seem to know where you are.

"You did good, best friend." Todo states, congratulating Itadori who smiles confidently. "Thanks-!" He begins to say but is cut off by a sudden shake in the ground, similar to one of an Earthquake, but not quite.  The overwhelming sense of a curse appears.

They are caught off guard as something seems to loom over them, looking over to see a herd of grade 3 and 4 curses spreading like a flood, all centering from a single location.

Itadori freezes for a moment, seeming to already know the source. "Y/n!" He shouts, attempting to run towards her, despite the overwhelming number of curses. Todo puts a hand on his shoulder, stopping him for a moment. Itadori looks back at him confused and concerned. Todo nods and smirks.
"I'll help." He assures knowingly.

Itadori smiles, nodding as the two approach. It took about 10 minutes to clear the curses with the help of everyone uninjured. When you finally came into sight, lying limp in the center of it all, Itadori rushes over to you.

"Y/n! Are you okay!?" He questions worriedly as he crouches next to you and lifts you to lay your head on his lap. Your eyes are closed and the look on your face says your either distressed or in pain, maybe both.

They manage to get you to the infirmary and are relieved to find out you'll be okay, however it would be a bit til you could wake up.

Y/n's POV
I shift uncomfortably in bed as I begin to wake up. My eyes snap open. I'm in a bed?

I sit up slowly, a lingering headache making me wince as I look around confused. I'm in the infirmary. I look to the right and see Itadori slumped on a chair next to the bed, asleep. I smile lightly at the familiar sight. Reluctantly I reach over and shake his arm gently to wake him up. He wakes up confused, but his eyes widen when he sees me.

"Uhh.. Boo?" I say awkwardly. He jumps up and leaps onto me into a hug, nearly making me fall from the bed. "W-woah! Careful please-" I manage to say. My body feels weak.

"I'm glad you're finally awake" he leans back and smiles joyfully. "How long was I out? I don't remember much of anything from when I knocked out.." I ask.

"Well.. Two and a half days? We expected you would be out longer honestly. You were knocked out and made a herd of 3rd and 4th grade curses. We don't know why it happened but apparently it took up a lot of your energy which is why you were out for so long." He explains.

"I-I did what?" I stare in shock and confusion. I felt the presence of curses but the fact that I made a herd of them while unconscious when I can barely make four while conscious? What the heck?

"Yeah.. Do you remember why it happened?" He asks. I'm sure everyone is wondering the same thing and honestly, so am I. "I don't know. I remember I was scared but that's it." I admit. He hums. "Oh well. I'm sure we'll figure it out." He smiles reassuringly.

I smile back. "... I'm tired." I mumble. "You've been asleep for two days-" "Not long enough apparently, and being unconscious isn't the same as actually sleeping." I say through a yawn. He perks up.

"Alrighttt. You can go back to sleep, I'll go let the others know you woke up he says as he begins to turn around. I frown for a moment before smiling as I reach over, grabbing the hem of his shirt and using what strength I have left to yank him down onto the bed with me.

"Eh?" He looks at me confused. "There's enough room for two of us. The others will find out one way or another anyways." I say as I shrug. He doesn't seem to get what I mean so I sigh as I lay back down and pat the space on the bed besides me. "Ohhh." He says in realization as he smiles and lays next to me.

I push his arm under my head to lay on his arm and pull myself close to him as he wraps his arm around me casually. We lay in silence for a moment as I recall the images I saw while unconscious.

"What are you thinking about?" He asks. I look up at him putting my chin on his chest, not fully processing what he said since I had zoned out. "Ah... Not much." I say after realizing. "Just something I saw." I add.

"Oh, well if you ever wanna talk about it I'm always here." He smiles warmly. I smile at this. He's so sweet. "I'll keep that in mind... You know, you kind of remind me of a puppy." I say randomly, changing the subject.

He looks at me confused. "Eh? Really?" "Yep. You're like a puppy, so I guess thay would make Sukuna... I don't know." I mumble in thought.

"Maybe a Rottweiler or something?" Itadori suggests. I hum. "Maybe in size and looks but as far as personality goes I'd say more of a Chihuahua." I joke, making Itadori stifle a laugh. "I heard that, you damn brats." Sukuna grumbles. Itadori and I laugh before it goes quiet.

I adjust, getting comfortable as I lay my head against his chest and begin to doze off.

"Sukuna?" I say as I walk around the all too familiar throne. Something about it feels calming now for some reason. I hear footsteps from behind me and stop walking as arms wrap around my waist, however more gently than would be expected. Surprising even myself, I lean my head back, resting it casually onto the chest of the one behind me.

"You aren't scared, or even weary?"
"I guess not."
"Then you saw it."
"Yeah... I saw it."

Sorry I didn't include Y/n in the fight with Hanami and instead left her unconscious. I wanted to include her in it but I suck at writing fight scenes so I decided not to.
