~ Kahani Aajkal ~
───── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ─────The rain drizzled down the window, each drop tracing a winding path before merging with others and cascading downward. She watched the rivulets race down the glass, their paths erratic yet inevitable, much like the memories that lingered in her mind. Both the rain and her memories were bitter and sweet, a complex mixture of joy and sorrow, each evoking emotions she struggled to reconcile.
The rain had always had a way of stirring up her thoughts, making her feel trapped in a swirl of nostalgia. She remembered how she used to love the rain as a child, dancing in the downpour with her sister, laughing as they splashed through puddles. But as she grew older, the rain began to take on a different meaning. It became a reminder of loss and missed opportunities, of moments she wished she could relive or forget. Just like memories, the rain could be soothing and cleansing, but it could also be cold and relentless, drumming on her consciousness with an unyielding rhythm.
Tara hated both the rain and her memories for the same reason: they were uncontrollable. No matter how much she tried to shield herself, the rain would still seep through, just as the memories would still invade her mind. They reminded her of everything she couldn't change, of people she couldn't forget, and of feelings she couldn't escape.
As she stared out at the rain-soaked world, her thoughts drifted back to the encounter earlier that day.
Vedant.
Was he real? Or had she been dreaming?
It seemed impossible, and yet, there he stood, right in front of her, after so many years. His face had changed, matured, but those eyes... they were the same eyes she had seen all those years ago.
Seeing him again had been like a dream, and yet it felt too vivid to be anything but real. She could still see the confusion and recognition in his eyes, could still hear the tremor in his voice as he said her name.
"Tara."
Tara closed her eyes. The sound of his voice bringing a flood of emotions, mixing with the patter of the rain against the window. She couldn't help but wonder if this encounter with Vedant was meant to be, if it was the universe's way of giving her a second chance at something she had lost.
"Tara!"
The voice called out, making Tara crane her neck towards the source. There, at the entrance, stood her sister.
Heer was the epitome of elegance, her silky hair cascading down her back in perfect waves and her almond-shaped eyes were a warm brown. She always carried herself with a calm confidence, her posture straight and her movements graceful. Dressed in a simple yet stylish kurta, she looked every bit the composed and collected woman that Tara often aspired to be.
