"Alright, here's your schedule, medical paperwork and all your other paperwork. You're all set for your first day here, at Sea Island Academy!" Mrs. Duncan said, politely smiling at me.

"Thanks Mrs. Duncan so much for this amaz-" I managed to get out before she interrupted me.

"Oh, please. Call me Mrs. D." she suggested, fanning me off.

"Okay well, um, Thanks Mrs. D?" I replied.

"Anytime honey. Now go mix and mingle before your class begins."

Today was my first day at Sea Island Academy, a school I knew nothing about. My mom just looked at the ratings and immediately got me a spot here. Honestly, as much as I would love to attend public school, private school wasn't too bad. However, this one was huge as shit which was why school time is extended by an hour. It took 5 minutes to get from my first block to second and I had no clue where my first class was. Fuck! I knew I should've asked Mrs. D. I internally rolled my eyes as I stumbled through my paperwork.

Ahhh! Algebra 2 is in room C248 and Biology is in A111. I began walking in the direction of the sign above labeled 'C Hall.' This isn't sooo bad.

"Hey, watch out!" was the last thing I heard before I began tumbling down the hall. When I was about to see what the hell happened, there stood 4 guys playing around with a football. I've never fallen so hard in my life! I tried getting up but failed miserably. I looked down to see one of my legs was bruised. Great.

"Need some help?" I turned around to see fresh white Nike air forces, denim Levi jeans and a crisp white Polo shirt on a tall, muscular man. He had light brown eyes, a chiseled chin, at least 6 tattoos on his right arm and a sharp tape up. My eyes began wandering. This boy was fine! I felt my lips begin to water as I admired his body.

"Ahh hum" The guy cleared his throat snapping me out my little fantasy. My cheeks immediately turned red and flushed. Did he catch me staring? How creepy, how rude, how .. "Umm anybody there?" Damn, was I still staring?

"Oh, um, sorry, I uh .." I stuttered, trying to speak to him. He was sooo fine!

"I'm Terrance, but everybody calls me Terry. Sorry about my boys. You alright?" He chuckled as he held out his hand.

"I'm uh, Za'Nique. But my friends call me Niq Niq. And I'm okay, just got a swollen ankle that's all." I smiled up at him as I grabbed his hand. He gently lifted me up and let me balance on him while he held my books and bag.

"Za'Nique? Your names kinda cute. Think I'll call you Nique instead though. Maybe you should see Nurse Murray. I'll walk you to her."
He offered with a sly smile.

"Oh thanks, but no. I have to get to Algebra 2 before-"

Ding. Dong!

Damn it. Damn it. Damn it! I was late to class on my FIRST DAY!

"Oh crap." I sighed after the tardy bell had stopped ringing.

"No sweat lil mama, I can get you an excused pass to class, after all it was my fault. I told Jerome dumb ass to go long." He fussed while carrying me through the halls. Damn he's strong!

"Really? Thanks! You're the best." I smiled at him.

"Anytime." He winked as he sat me down on the table in the Nurse's office. He didn't even knock on the door before entering, like the paper on the wall said to do. I scoffed internally at him.

"Terranceee!" a woman squealed walking in the little room we were in. "This is a bit early in the year for you isn't it?" She smiled at him while putting on Germ-X and latex gloves. This must be Mrs. Murray.

"Oh, no ma'am, my friend here, Za'Nique, was injured this morning. Really bad bruise. All my fault." He sobbed with a puppy dog face.

"I see." She glanced at him with a smirk and began examining my ankle. "A few bruises, it's a tad tinder and swollen. So be easy on it. And breathe in." She stated before rubbing alcohol on a few of the cuts on my lower legs.

"Ouch!" I recoiled as she bandaged me up. This shit burned like hell. And it's all that big-headed nigga Terrance's fault! I mugged him and he shrugged.

"Keep this cast on for 2 weeks and come back to visit me so I can see how it's healing. Ice it daily and take a warm shower tonight, okay?" She smiled and handed me a big red lollipop with a yellow slip.

I thanked her and limped out her office with Terrance following behind. My ankle was killing me. I really could not walk up this flight of stairs. I guess Terrance read my mind because he lifted me up and walked me to class with my body in hand.

"I'm sorry, again, for what happened to your leg." He gently let me down and knocked on a door. When it finally opened, there stood this skinny white man with huge glasses.

"What is it Mr. Jackson?!" The man screamed in a British accent. It was so cute and annoying. All the students in his class eyed me down, they were all mostly white, with about 7 black kids. 2 of them began snickering and the man snapped at them to quiet down.

"Uh, Mr. Prowl this is Za'Nique. She's new here and got injured this morning by me and my boys. Huge apologies sir." He said handing the man my pass.

"Hmm, I see. Have a seat ma'am in the far right corner and begin the warm up on the board!" He yelled again. What the hell is this man's problem? It's 7 in the damn morning and he up in here hollering like my grandma in church!

I looked back at Terrance and began walking to my seat. Every child in this class was eye-balling me down. Was there shit on my face? Cause damn they was staring at a sister hard. Don't they have a warm up to be doing?!

"Wait, Za'Nique. I-" Terrance said before being rudely interrupted by Mr. Prowl.

"GOOD BYE Mr. Jackson." He sang before slamming the door in his face.

While Mr. Prowl was turned around Terrance slid a sheet of paper under the door. I ran over quickly to get it but by the time my pink finger tip touched it, a ruler slapped down on it. What the?

"I'll take this." Mr. Prowl hovered over me ripping up the paper and sending me back to my seat. How worse could this day get?!
