Ethan stood staring at her window hoping he could catch a glimpse of her, he had look up her address while checking her on instagram, he thought she looked beautiful from the very moment he met her at the bar. She had looked so lonely and he felt he had to come to the rescue.

She had this tall, slender figure he always liked, she was a brunette and she had the most beautiful blue eyes he had ever seen. He had to just talk to her. He was a little pissed that he woke up that morning and she was gone, like who sleeps with someone and secretly leaves the next morning.

He had to see what she was up to and there he was standing behind a tree staring at her hotel window. He had followed her from the café across the street where she had gone to get breakfast.

"Oh Shit" he said to himself as he docked behind the tree. He saw her come out of the hotel and walk down the street.

He contemplated within himself whether to follow her or not. Without giving it much thought he walked quietly few meters from where she was, he kept wondering where she was going and what she wanted to do.

Walking down the road, Carol felt someone was following her, she turned round but didn't see anyone, and she felt an uncomfortable pit in her stomach, she then decided to increase her pace. She wanted to go to the gift store to get presents for her family since she had an early flight to catch the very next day. She thought about her one night stand and felt really bad that she did not leave her contact or say goodbye of some sort. She felt some peace because she knew she wasn't going to see him again. She had to focus her energy on her relationship and she was willing to make things work between her and Nick.

She got to the hotel soon after and started packing after eating the lunch she got on her way back, she soon has the same uncomfortable feeling that someone was watching her then she got up, checked outside, she thought she saw someone lurking behind the trees across the road. Thinking it was probably a cat she went back to packing her luggage.

The flight back home was a long one and she slept most of the way. Her mum and dad were at the airport waiting for her and she ran to hug them.

"Hey Mum, Hey Dad, I've missed you so much" she said grinning

"We've have missed you my love" her mum replied hugging her tight

The car ride was exceptionally quiet for a while then her father broke the silence

"How was Italy?" he turned to look at her

"Fine, the purpose of me going there was accomplished"

"I got to let go of my hatred for Nick and really think things through" she concluded and turned to stare at the cars moving by

"That's good" her mum chipped in

"Yeah, I guess" Carol responded looking at both her mother and father then turned to stare out the window

Coming back to her home town in Julian, San Diego County in California. It was like coming back to reality, she wasn't sure she was ready anymore. All the confidence she felt on the plane ride vanished at the sight of her apartment building.

"Are you sure you would be fine on your own." Her mother asked her looking concerned

"You can come stay with us for a while before you are ready to go back to your apartment" her father added

"No!! I would be fine" she protested

"Alright then, we would see you this weekend for dinner"

"Love you guys" Carol shouted as she watched her parents drive away.

She looked up at her apartment and heaved a sigh of relief, the lights were not on, Nick had probably moved out like she asked him to before she left for Italy.

"Welcome back home" she told herself as she grabbed her bags and pulled them up the stairs leading to her front door.
