A/N: I haven't seen The French Dispatch yet but ik a bit and I feel Zeffirelli needs some love so this one's for you Zeff. SPOILER WARNING ⚠️

The French Dispatch, a series of various writings done for a newspaper article. One of many writers, none other then your boyfriend Zeffirelli, who was also a young student revolutionary leader who was in the process of writing a manifesto.

You'd often spend days with him while he'd play games of chess or write. He did both and he did both rather well as both were passions of his.

Currently now though he was in the bath while you were trying to clean your eyes. A recent protest had more or lees gone south in some sense. You had gotten tear gassed. Unfortunately. Thats why this manifesto was so important to you. You knew if Zeffirelli wrote and finished it. And published it, maybe it would spark further change through protests and other forms of such things.

You heard the occasional splash of water, Zeffirelli had the curtain drawn. He must've been smoking again cause the slight scent of it was in the air, that was a bad habit of his but one you couldn't necessarily get him to stop. You sighed as you dabbed your eyes

"You okay Y/N?" He asked you from where he was. He hadn't gotten tear gassed luckily but he knew you had and that it wasn't pleasant. So he wanted to make sure you were okay as possible anyways.

"I'm fine Zeff, thank you though" you sighed softly and eventually got your eyes clean of whatever had been forced upon them, chemicals likely. "How's your writing?" You'd ask him.

"Its fine, nearly complete I'd say, I'll be helping set up the barricade later this evening" he explained. He was often involved in these things which was admirable but dangerous. Unfortunately however he would also have to do repairs to a radio tower.

Once Zeffirelli was finished and dressed and ready. He hugged you and kissed you goodbye as he headed out for the night. Unaware that this time things wouldn't be going well for him.

The barricade was fine and built with no trouble. So he went up the radio tower to make repairs so it could be used for their announcements they'd make on the Revolution. He blew out some smoke as he swayed back and forth on its side after he had fixed it.

His footing slipped, he hadn't been paying attention. That's when he saw you below looking up in terror and worry for him as he clung to the side of the tower. He saw you running to get up and catch him, his hand almost slipped, but you caught him in time. Pulling him up and hugging him tight.

((A/N: ik this isn't quite how the movie went but I wanted to keep him alive so-))

"Zeff...y-you could've died!" You squeaked in fear as you felt him cling onto you for dear life. He sighed shakily "I'm-I'm so sorry amor..." he sighed. When you both had calmed down some he carefully carried you down and you two shakily made your way home.
