AUTHOR'S POV
you know those rare moments of peace? something akin to the harken light of dawn and the symphony of eventide hues?
that was something that could be used to describe ezra's mood right now. she was finally back home, after a long time apart from it.
it was almost evening when she reached home, immediately being wrapped in her mother's arms, losing herself in the warmth before being tackled to the ground by loki. a black and tan german shepherd, loki was a week old baby when her brother brought him home after seeing the puppy abandoned by the streets on his way home from school one afternoon. her mom, who was mad at having a puppy in her home which, according to her, already resembled a zoo thanks to her two wild kids, was initially hesitant about the dog.
today, both elijah and ezra could vouch for the fact that their mom loved loki more than them.
now after a heavy dinner filled with the most delicious beef curry and appam, she made her way into her childhood room bidding an early good-night to her mom for they had an early day tomorrow.
ignoring the suitcases that were strewn open around her room and dirty laundry that was meant to go in the laundry basket around her, a sight that would have definitely made the cleanliness freak in adina go crazy, she dived straight into her bed, faceplanting into a pillow.
the open window let in some of the cold breeze, playing with her still wet hair from the 2 hour shower she took earlier giving it the same buoyant wave as the river nearby. the cloudy grey sky made the nighttime all the cosier still, letting the moon peep through every once in a while.
the scent of floral detergent from the freshly washed pillow covers made her want to sleep and never wake up, but jet lag being the absolute bitch it was made her stay up. with the kind of fatigue that required matchsticks for her eyes, she pulled her laptop close opening netflix to while away time.
might as well thirst over thomas shelby, she thought. as the intro to peaky blinders began playing, she dimmed the lights of her room before opening the packet of lays that she stole from her brothers stash.
what he doesn't know won't hurt him, she thought as she savoured the sour cream and onion chips.
yeah, not even a hour after dinner but who cares?

after what seemed like hours of over-analysing the shit that a crime gang gets into in england, she shuts the laptop feeling her eyes start to water. was it due to the emotional roller coaster that season was or because staring at a screen for 2 hours straight isn't a great idea? she really couldn't care.
