Time flies when you're having fun. Before [Name] knew it, she was back in Japan, with her parents and friends. To her surprised (and also her relieved), they were indifferent and left her alone for most of the holidays, meaning she had more freedom for herself. It was great, especially after the many plans that her friends had made while she was in America.
Thank god her grandmother gave her some extra pocket money for her to spend while she went out with her friends. She went to an amusement park, a water park, museums, the beach and even shopping with her two friends, Yayoi and Kekoi. After she had arrived in Japan, Yayoi immediately demanded that they hang out the entire three weeks they had left of their summer together since afterwards they won't be able to do anything fun and exciting till their winter break.
Those three weeks were one of the best time [Name] had in her entire life. It even topped her many fun trips she had at America, Yayoi and Kekoi really went all out for her. Each and every hang out she had with them, there was atleast one super memorable event that happened. Either it being losing Kekoi in the wave pool or Yayoi trying to grab her Mickey Mouse headband back when it flew off a ride, everything was remembered dearly by [Name]. Her most favourite thing that cane out of it was getting matching phone charms with Yayoi and Kekoi. All three of them has a flower phone charm in their respective favourite colours hanging on their phones.
By the end of those three weeks, [Name]'s camera roll was filled with pictures of her and her friends hanging out. It was truly a fun and exciting three weeks, and she had one last outing before school officially starts. Her outing to the summer festival with Gakushuu.
"Huh? Asano Kun asked you out on a date?!?" It almost came out as a scream as Yayoi stood up from her seat, slamming her hands onto the metal round table of the cafe the three friends were at. Her reaction was from [Name] telling them that Gakushuu had invited her to attend the festival together with him, and that she couldn't go with them. Thank god it was relatively empty, or else they were sure to get complaints from other patrons. Kekoi immediately tried to get Yayoi to calm down while also apologizing the staff who had came out to see what was the commotion.
[Name] was startled at Yayoi's reaction and immediately reddened at the mentioned of it being called a 'date'. "I swear it's not a date! He just asked if I wanted to go and I said yes, it's not a date!!" She exasperated as Yayoi slowly went back to her seat.
"I doubt so." Yayoi smirked, enjoying the flustered look at [Name]'s face.
"Stop teasing her, Yoi Chan." Kekoi gave her a hard smack while her other hand went to hold her drink for her to take a long sip from. After taking her sip, she turned to [Name], "Anyways, do you have a yukata to wear to the festival or are you not planning to wear one at all?"
[Name] visibly perked up at the mentioned of yukata. Despite being a Japanese person herself, she felt rather detached from her own culture, especially since most of her family lives in the states, where they are more influenced by the western culture.
"I want to wear a yukata but I don't own one, as you see my family isn't really into Japanese culture, most of them live in America so. . ." [Name] said awkwardly. How embarrassing, she thought to herself. She, a full Japanese blooded individual, didn't even own a traditional Japanese outfit. Her ancestors are shaming her in the heavens.
Her heart almost stopped when she heard Kekoi laugh.
"There's no need to be embarrased, [Name] San! It's pretty reasonable due to your family being more into Western culture, don't worry." Kekoi reassured her. "You could lend one of my yukatas, I came from a rather conservative Japanese family so I have plentiful. We can go now if you like."
