Kentrell wanted to cry.

He wanted to scream in the void to voice all of his frustrations and pain.

The situation that went down brought so many emotions out of Tyquian and him. It hurt them both immensely.

A situation they were used to, due to Tyquian and Kentrell teaching each other everything they know on how to defend themselves. But this?

This situation hit differently.

This hurt them the most.

Shéyaa was new to the type of things the other two found considerably normal. Sure, the man may know how to pop a gun but he still didn't know what it was like to have to go through that daily.

But then Kentrell remembered back at the time the man opened up about spending a year in jail. Kentrell, himself, spent a good amount of time in and out of jail so of course, he couldn't speak on what the man endured during that time.

But the man was a father first.

He had three kids to take care of. He had a lot of things to look forward to every time he went back home.

Kentrell wanted to blame himself for allowing the man to come, knowing he had a family back home waiting for him. He knew there were oh so many ways to prevent the man from coming but he was so blinded by rage and vengeance to think about that clearly.

Why didn't he try to think about things more logically?

Why didn't he do a better job of taking his boyfriend's feelings into consideration?

Just why?

He felt like he had been a terrible boyfriend.

But Tyquian had to remind him that it wasn't his fault for Shéyaa's outcome. They could only do so much in the situation and couldn't always predict every single thing around them. Ty had to always keep Kentrell with a level head, all while still trying to deal with his own emotions because the man was empathetic.

He didn't want his boyfriend falling into a hole of self-blame and depression after all.

And here they were a month and a half later. Things had drastically changed in their lives since the day of the shoot-off.

And by drastically changed...

"How you feelin'?" Kentrell asked, placing a cup of iced water on the bedside table with a straw inside. Wondering what exactly the other man had on his mind during that moment.

"Like shit." Shéyaa replied instantly, throat raspy and dry and he took the cup, sipping the water through the straw, "Everything hurts like hell. Feel like I got ran over by a damn semi-truck."
