Third Person
Dread.
That's what fills Kaede on the elevator ride down. She tries to talk to Shuichi, almost like giving him a pep talk, but in the end, it's what she ends up saying is the advice she needs herself.
As she finishes her little speech, the elevator comes to a stop, shaking as it does. The wired doors come open, revealing a vast, dark room. The windows are stained glass, almost as if their neon colors will shed a little light. Like a false hope.
There are seventeen podiums in the center of the room, each with a different name written in kanji, a little differently like... they signed their names in the top piece. They've possibly signed away their lives in this trial.
"Welcome to the class trial!" It's five high-pitched voices that echo off of the high walls in the room. Kaede shudders, knowing but refusing to say aloud how stupid this is.
"Oh boy!" The red bear claps. "The class trial is finally starting! Finally, a game that actually feels like a game!"
"Just as the prophecy foretold!" Monokid's tongue slithers out of his mouth, setting out to now be the most uncomfortable thing in the room.
"Listen up!" Monosuke, the yellow one, pushes his glasses upon his face. "From here on, things are gonna get so violent you'll wish you could turn back."
"That's not true..." Monophanie stammers. "There won't be any... gory or violent scenes... I'm sure of it."
"This is an authentic replica of a courtroom..." Keebo mumbles, outwardly showing his paranoia.
"What bad taste..." Hoshi comments, biting down a little harder on his candy cigarette.
"Why are you making us do this?!" Kaede challenges. "Is this fun for you?"
Someone cackles in the distance, only for it to be Monokuma, sitting himself down in his throne. "Of course! Putting strangers in life-or-death scenarios makes for the best entertainment!"
"You are seriously the worst!" Chabashira calls out. Kaede is unsure if the girl really wants the attention or not.
"Worst or not, those who have fun are the real winners of this world! It doesn't matter what terrible things you do or have done to you, as long as you're having fun!"
"Wow, this is so sickening it's almost refreshing! So, how do we get this game going?"
Someone calls Ouma a name while Monokuma gestures to the podiums. As she saw before, every podium has a name on it. Their assigned seats.
Kaede takes a shaky breath and finds the podium with her name on it. She isn't sure who she stands by yet, and she feels that looking is too much of a push. This shouldn't start yet, they only found the body forty minutes ago, if that!
(Yes hey, we're not setting skills yet because I didn't realize I could do it for the first trial.)
