Just as Long as I'm With You

It had been a great weekend really. Vix and Haven had flown out late Thursday night to spend a weekend with their boyfriends, mostly because Vix and Austin were tired of Rudy and Haven pining for each other over the phone now that they were an official item. They'd thought it couldn't get worse when they started dating, but the joke was on them because it increased tenfold. After their flight had landed, there was a four hour drive to their Airbnb that Austin had rented for the weekend — right on the beach and enough space to put some distance between the two couples so they didn't traumatize each other with sex.

After spending a lovely weekend with her boyfriend and friends, Vix was honestly sad to go back to Indiana. She clung to Austin as they said goodbye to each other, sneaking a couple of kisses when their friends weren't looking. Eventually the girls had to go inside the airport though and Vix figured it'd be another eventless trip home, until she got inside.

She let out a groan, reaching into her bag for her phone like it wasn't hovering on twenty percent battery. Her flight back to Indianapolis had been canceled and she didn't get an email about it until she'd already gotten into the airport. Luckily for her, Delta had automatically put her on the first available flight back to Indy, but it wasn't until noon tomorrow. Haven had be lucky enough to get a flight back through Southwest, as she had to work at ten am the next day. She knew her boyfriend was going to have a family day with his parents and sister since he wasn't home the day before to do like they normally did, so she didn't really want to call him and she didn't have the money for an Uber as they were ridiculous in Los Angeles. With a sigh, she hit his contact and let it ring.

"Hey baby, is everything okay?" His voice sounded echoey, a sure tell that he was talking to her through the radio.

"No." She told him. "My flight got canceled." She heard him hum in response.

"I'm about ten minutes out. I'll be there soon." He told her.

"Austin, I don't want to mess up your plans for the day." Her voice told him she was worried, which made him frown at the dash of his car.

"Hey, you're not messing anything up." He said. "I'm gonna hang this up, and I'm gonna text my mom and let her know I'm bringing a friend. It'll be fine. I'll see you in a few minutes. I love you."

"I love you too. I'll change really quick in the bathroom. I don't want to meet your parents in sweats." She said. "Text me when you're here then."

The pair ended their call. She'd just pulled on the light blue dress and was attempting to make her hair look decent when her phone dinged to let her know she had a text.

Aussie 🥺: Change of plans, sweetheart, I have to help my mom so Rudy is gonna pick you up. He said he'll text you when he's there.
Vixxy: okay. The only nice thing I have packed still shows my tattoos. Your mom isn't gonna be mad about them right?
Aussie 🥺: Baby, I have tattoos and she doesn't mind. I mean, mine can be covered up but that's because of my job. I love your tattoos and you should show them off.
Vixxy: you're such a fucking simp, North.

When Rudy texted her that he had arrived, she made her way out of the airport to see him leaning against the car. He quickly pulled her into a hug like he hadn't seen her an hour and a half before, ignoring the click of the cameras that could be heard. He loaded her suitcase up in the back and opened her door for her.

"So traffic sucks, so our 20 minute drive is gonna take about a half hour or so. Maybe longer, I'm sorry." He said. "Haven really just left you here in California?"

"Well, Toot." Vix started. "Jess couldn't stay with my grandmother much longer than today, so someone had to get back and Haven offered." She was lying to the blonde but Haven hadn't told him about her job yet, and she didn't want to ruin that for her, so she came up with something believable.
