-4 months later-

After walking into the brand-new driveway, Danielle took Kaylee's hand in hers. As she got closer to the house she used to live in, the brunette simply dragged her feet. As she moved closer to the front door, the stench overwhelmed her senses. As she peered into her brand-new home, the auburn-haired woman opened the front door with a large smile on her face.

The brunette had already vanished by the time she turned around. Kaylee had dashed into her familiar bedroom and buried herself behind the sheets. She was tired and upset in an inexplicable way that no one could describe. Danielle only sighed as she followed her into her room, a flood of remorse and grief rushing through her.

The brunette hid her face behind a pillow and sobbed silently into it. Danielle simply allowed a tear fall down her cheek as she held her wife's hand, attempting to reassure her. Kaylee simply slid her palm away from her face and sobbed quietly on the cushion she cherished.

"I realize it's difficult, but it's okay if it can't happen. Kaylee Russell, I love you so much," Danielle whispered as she kissed her on the forehead and walked out to the terrace to take a deep breath.

She was fed up with watching her wife in misery, especially since it was partly her fault. The way the trees moved made her feel a pang of jealousy that she couldn't shake. The way they appeared pleased and at ease made her feel as if she had entirely lost her own and would never be able to reclaim it. The air became colder as the trees moved, giving her a little shiver up the back of her neck.

As she came into the warm house, she smiled at the open door, attempting to disguise her pain. As she moved through the room, little sobs filled it. She clenched her fists and closed her eyes, attempting to control the flood of emotions that washed over her. She wiped her tears away and sat down next to her wife in their bedroom. She merely clenched her fists and closed her eyes, attempting to block out the pain.

"I'm sorry, this is all my fault," Kaylee whispered gently as she fought back tears.

"It's not your fault. It's ok, some things in life happen for a purpose. Everything will be ok; all I ask is that you believe me."

Kaylee was about to say, "It's my fault, the doctors clearly informed me..." when she was interrupted by her wife.

"Kaylee, it's not your fault. It happened, and now we must go forward. The fact that this is what happened doesn't change the fact that you are the most flawless person on the planet. I love you more than all the oceans and skies combined, and you will always be the one I adore. Stop blaming yourself, and if it helps, blame me."

Kaylee merely sobbed on Danielle's shoulder till she fell asleep, trying to get rid of every awful feeling she had. Danielle tucked her wife in and strolled to the opposite side of the refurbished home after her heartbeat had settled into a regular rhythm. She locked herself in the little soundproof studio after opening the door. The auburn-haired woman ran her fingers through her hair as she poured herself a scotch, attempting to forget about the situation.

In a flash of rage, she threw her scotch glass at the wall as she drank it. How could things fall apart when everything had been going so well? She was enraged that they were already falling apart after only four months of marriage. It enraged her that she could no longer have a happy family or make her wife happy. It was all too much for her, so she began yelling while tears streamed down her face.

She hurled everything in sight as her heart shattered into a million pieces, and there was no stopping her. This newly remodeled home was supposed to be the start of something fresh, to alleviate their agony and suffering as a result of their terrible luck, but it instead brought back all of their awful memories. She knelt and held her chest in an attempt to relieve the anguish, but it didn't work. She felt as if her entire world was spinning, much like she did when she lost her memories and couldn't recover them.
