1. swollen red eyes
"are you ok?"
said the note that she passed.
"no"
so she listened.
and she helped.
she gave them all of her attention.
but when the time came that she was in the bathroom crying, the person she helped couldn't even be bothered to notice her swollen red eyes.
2. what she has to say
she took a breath.
her sentence had finished.
but when she looked up she saw them giggle and stare.
it had happened again.
the awful curse of oversharing.
the information she could never take back.
now they knew her vulnerabilities.
and it was only a matter of time before they made their way back to her.
the people on the internet make her happy.
when reality fails her expectations, the internet is her safe place.
but then she got shut up while talking about her happy place.
it must've been too much.
so now she listens.
because why would people want to hear what she has to say?
3. the power of words
she took a breath.
her sentence had finished.

4. shattered
she hears a sob.
so she helps.
she's asked for advice.
so she helps.
they complain about their life.
so she helps.
she is clearly not okay.
but no one helps.
so when the car door shuts and she steps into the place she calls home.
she breaks.
shatters.
because while she been helping all of these people, no one has helped her.
they haven't even lifted a finger.
5. dizzy
"i think i'm gonna faint"
she says, clearly crying for help.
"um- you want water?"
she accepts.
the water does nothing.
she know that she is not going to faint because of dehydration.
or exhaustion.
but people don't have time to listen to the real reason.
so she drinks her water.
sits at her desk.
and holds herself steady so no one turns their heads.
