a repulsive headache was not something donghyuck was looking forward too. he woke up sweating as he began coughing a lot. he had called to mark for assistance but of course the man was gone. donghyuck assumed for work but there could have been other things in mind. and now donghyuck had called in sick for his own job because he didn't want the chance to give his younger kindergarten students this sickening flu. kids were filled with germs and their weak immune systems were not something to be prepared for.

donghyuck had decided to text mark now since it was close to three in the afternoon and he hadn't replied to either of his morning texts.

donghyuck:
hey babe! what should i make for dinner? are you at work?

it was a bit of a surprise before donghyuck's husband had replied to the message. donghyuck didn't want to waste any time as he read what he had sent.

mark<3:
don't worry about me. i'm at work now. i shouldn't be too long. i'll get home at seven and don't make dinner, i'll pick us up something to eat.

light reflected in donghyuck's eyes from this. mark had never brought home food in such a fairly long time and to hear he was getting out at seven? donghyuck estimated that mark would then be home at around eight from the distance of his work to whatever restaurant he may go to. maybe this was a somewhat sincere apology from last night.
but as donghyuck placed his phone down at the kitchen table. he began hacking again. the work he was doing on his laptop and the papers on the table were getting moved as donghyuck held a hand on the table for a better grip. his coughing increased, thrived, and throbbed. it was a painful cough as he could feel mucus rushing up again. he rushed over to the bathroom on the first level of the house, crouching down and surrounding the toilet.

"mark!" donghyuck yelled though there was no point to it. donghyuck's throat felt very tense, his neck feeling as if someone was deliberately choking him not wanting him to be alive for the next day. it felt he was about to throw up when he spat out mucus and there was a lot of it. donghyuck felt the need to breathe and took a big gulp of air unsure of when this next episode would happen.

at this point he knew he didn't have the flu.

the flu caused sneezing as well and donghyuck knew he didn't have that either. his hands still gripped both sides of the toilet as he was sweating, heaving up and down as if he just ran a mile. his body felt tense once more, the same feeling. there was something scratchy in his throat and he felt like screaming as multiple scenarios of pain were being filled.

his throat being so sore from coughing so much. (donghyuck wouldn't be surprised if a kidney or liver would wind up in his toilet.)

his heart. it felt like being trapped as something tied around it. he was so unsure of what was happening but the moment he tried to speak, it sounded like his voice was no longer there. it was like a screech for help whenever you lose your voice. it cracks a lot and breaks. and the causing of this was his neck. where it hurt the most.

donghyuck let go of the toilet laying back on the bathroom floor as he tried to scream but he sounded terrible. sweating tremendously and trying to bid over the fact that something was growing out of his neck.

it seemed like hours passed when it was only several minutes before the pain dyed down and donghyuck was there with tears in his eyes. he felt too weak to cry now because he was unsure of this mess and what did he do to get such karma back. donghyuck managed to stand, limping and slouching over to the sink as he had his hands there. there was blood all over his palms. it was obviously from his mouth but also from his neck. he didn't want to see the scary looking guy facing right back at him in this mirror; but then again he needed to see what was wrong.

he looked up slowly at the mess he was. he was so in tune and drawn in of how he looked, but more importantly he was mesmerized and in shock of what was on his neck.

a small stem; two baby leaves matter of fact. growing out of the side of his neck so faintly.
